Monterey Grass Getter
Monterey Grass Getter
Monterey Grass Getter, manufactured by Monterey, is a systemic selective herbicide that provides quick elimination of listed grassy weed species without injuring desired foliage such as flowers, evergreens, or shrubs.
As a liquid formulation product, it will soak into the surface of the foliage and effectively kill the emerged annual and hard-to-kill perennial weeds within a couple of weeks. Monterey Grass Getter is an effective product on its own, but can be mixed with oil concentrate products.
Tools Needed
To use Monterey Grass Getter, you will need to use a backpack sprayer, pump sprayer, or hose-end sprayer. You will need to use an additional product such as an oil concentrate to increase this products rate of success.
How to Use
- Step 1: Do not mow or cut the top of grassy weeds before starting this treatment. Determine how much Monterey Grass Getter by calculating the square footage of your treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply the length and width of the area to be treated (length X width = square footage). For hose-end sprayer application, use 1 fl. oz. of Monterey Grass Getter per 1,800 sq. ft. For hose-end sprayer dilution concentration, apply 1 fl. oz. of product per 1 fl. oz. of oil concentrate per 1,800 sq. ft. For hand or backpack sprayer, mix 1 fl. oz. of product per 1 fl. oz. of oil concentrate per 1 gallon of water to treat 1,800 sq. ft.
- Step 2: Fill your hand or backpack sprayer halfway with the appropriate amount of water, add the measured amount of product and oil concentrate, then fill the rest of the way with the remaining amount of water. Secure the lid and agitate until the solution is evenly mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the mixed solution directly onto targeted weeds, preferably on a low fan spray for uniform coverage. For best results, apply this product as a spot treatment to avoid spray or drift with desirable foliage. If drift occurs near lawn and sensitive plants, wash foliage immediately with water.
Where to Use
Monterey Grass Getter can be used in residential areas containing grassy weeds near and within plant beds, flowers, bedding plants, evergreens, landscapes, ornamental ground covers, individual shrubs and trees.
Can be applied to Avocados Olives, Pomegranates, Dates, Plums, Prunes, and Figs. However, they cannot be within a year of harvest prior to the application.
Monterey Grass Getter can be used on the listed fruit, vegetables, shrubs and tree species on the label.
Use with caution around the following plants as they may be damaged if spray contacts foliage: Azaleas (var. snow), Japanese Privet, Potentilla, Snow in Summer, Red Oak, White Oak, and ornamental grass.
When to Use
Use Monterey Grass Getter when grassy weeds are actively growing, and have reached a height of at least one inch. Apply on warm days when rainfall is not expected within 24 hours.
Safety Information
Monterey Grass Getter is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.
