Monterey Epsom Salts

Monterey Epsom Salts, manufactured by Monterey, is a high-quality magnesium source specially formulated to improve rose, cane, and shrub health by aiding in chlorophyll production. 

This water-soluble granule supplies magnesium 9.8% and sulfur 12.9%, two nutrients often lacking in plants. The magnesium is essential for chlorophyll production and photosynthesis, contributing to strong, green leaves and overall plant vitality. Sulfur plays a crucial role in enzyme activity, amino acid production, and overall metabolic function, which aids in increased flowering and fruiting. 

Monterey Epsom Salts is a valuable plant aid that effectively corrects common yellowing and chlorophyll levels in roses, cane, and shrubs for the average plant owner. Plants treated with this product often exhibit vibrant green foliage and restored plant health in a sufficient amount of time. 

Tools Needed

This product will need to be mixed with a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. 

A chemical measuring cup may also be used for soil applications. This should not be reused for food purposes. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Be sure to remove or examine discoloration in plants. If you find the yellowing is caused by other conditions, such as fungi or pests, be sure to take care of the infestation first. Determine how much Monterey Epsom Salts to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For foliar applications, apply 1/4 cup (4 tbsp.) of Monterey Epsom Salts per 1-2 gallons of water to cover 500-1000 sq. ft. For soil applications for roses and shrubs, use 1/4 cup of product. 
• Step 2: To mix for foliar applications, you will need to fill your sprayer with half the amount of water. Pour in the proper amount of product and the remaining half of the water. Agitate the tank until it's dissolved completely. 
• Step 3: Spray the diluted solution onto the top and bottom of the plant leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Apply 2-4 applications throughout the growing season. For soil applications, apply around the base of the plant. A follow-up summer application may also be made.

When to Use

Apply early in the spring when new growth begins for roses and shrubs. You may also apply throughout the plant's growing season.
