Moccasin Herbicide
Moccasin Herbicide
Moccasin Herbicide is a versatile pre- and post-emergent herbicide that protects a wide range of crops from broadleaf and grassy weeds with its powerful residual control.
Moccasin Herbicide, manufactured by United Phosphorous, is a modern emusifiable concentrate herbicide that contains the first-ever S-Metolachor alternative on the market for better weed control.
Controls existing and germinating weeds such as carpetweed, sandbur, and beggarweed within 2 days of application yet remains flexible enough for various planting intervals.
Moccasin Herbicide provides reliable, fast, and extended residual control over many grassy and broadleaf weeds for a wide range of crops.
Tools Needed
To apply Moccasin Herbicide, you will need to use a spray rig or center pivot irrigation system.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Moccasin Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). To treat tomatoes with a coarse soil texture and less than 3% organic matter, use 1.0-1.3 pints of Mocassin Herbicide in 20 gallons of water per acre. Refer to the label for specific application rates.
- Step 2: This product must not be mixed or loaded within 50 feet of perennial or intermittent streams and rivers, natural or impounded lakes and reservoirs or used within 50 feet of all wells, including abandoned wells, drainage wells, and sink holes. Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, pour in the correct amount of Moccasin Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Stir the contents in the tank before spraying.
- Step 3: Broadcast the Mocassin Herbicide over the soil until it reaches a depth of 2-3 inches in the dirt. Any subsequent tilling after incorporating this product, and prior to planting, must be less than the application depth or 2-3 inches. Within 2 days of application of this product sprinkle irrigate using 1/2-1 inch of water using lower irrigation rates on soils that are coarse-textured and the higher rates on soils that are fine-textured. If it is not possible to irrigate and no precipitation occurs within two days of application, there may be decreased control of weeds in which case a shallow, uniform cultivation should be performed immediately upon weed germination. Avoid spray overlap, as crop injury may result.
Where to Use
Moccasin Herbicide can be used for beans, corn, cotton, grasses grown for seed, lentils, peanuts, peas, potatoes, safflower, soybean (immature seed), soybean, sorghum for grain or forage, sugar beet, sunflower, tomatoes, horseradish, pumpkin, and rhubarb.
Do not use in nurseries, turf, landscape plantings, greenhouses or other enclosed structures.
When to Use
Apply Moccasin Herbicide when soil is dry and free of weeds.
Safety Information
Moccasin Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of treated areas until 24 hours have passed after application.
Special Considerations
Injury may occur following the use of Moccasin Herbicide under abnormally high soil moisture conditions during early development of the crop.
