Meso 4SC Select Herbicide
Meso 4SC Select Herbicide
Meso 4SC Select is a popular herbicide manufactured by Prime Source. Meso 4SC Select's active ingredient is mesotrione, which is known for its wide spectrum of weed control. Mesotrione is also the active ingredient in the popular herbicide brand Tenacity. Meso 4SC Select contains the same formula and can also provide excellent control of crabgrass in residential yards which is very important because MSMA (a go-to recommendation for crabgrass control) has recently been banned by the EPA for the homeowner or residential use.
Meso 4SC is easy to mix and apply and can kill treated weeds within 2 to 3 weeks after application. Use Meso 4SC if you are dealing with hard-to-control weeds like Nutsedge, Clover, Crabgrass, Barnyardgrass and others.
Tools Needed
Meso 4SC Select Herbicide can be applied with a pressurized hydraulic sprayer, high volume handgun spray, hand-held pump sprayer, or backpack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Meso 4SC Select you will need to mix by first measuring the square footage (length x width) of the target area. The typical application rate is between 4 to 8 oz per 30 gallons of water per acre for large applications. For smaller areas and spot treatments, a half teaspoon of Meso 4SC Select with 1.5 teaspoons of surfactant in 1 gallon of water will treat 1,000 sq. ft. So for example, if you measured your yard to be 2,000 square feet. You will need a teaspoon of Tenacity and 3 teaspoons of surfactant to 2 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Fill a hand-pump sprayer halfway with water then add the required amount of Meso 4SC Select to the tank. Replace the cap and agitate by shaking the sprayer. Add the remaining water required and surfactant if needed, then repeat agitation to ensure that the herbicide solution is thoroughly mixed.
- Step 3: Apply Meso 4SC selectively to the target weed, making sure not to over-apply or spray to the point of runoff. Use a fan spray nozzle setting for even coverage. Repeat application in 2 to 3 weeks for best results.
Where to Use
Meso 4SC Select Herbicide is for use in and around turfgrass including sod farms, commercial and residential turf, and ornamentals.
When to Use
Use Meso 4SC Select Herbicide during the growing season when unwanted weeds are growing on the property. The product is best applied when weeds are young and growing. It can be also applied as a pre-emergent in the fall and early spring.
Safety Information
Meso 4SC Select is safe for pets and kids when used according to the label. Before applying this product, please make sure to put on the proper PPE for safety (long-sleeved clothing, gloves, face mask, goggles). Pets and children should not be present during treatment and should remain out of the treated areas until they have completely dried.
Special Considerations
Bentgrass, Poa annua, Kikuyugrass, Zoysiagrass, Seashore Paspalum, and Bermudagrass are sensitive to Meso 4SC Select applications. Avoid spraying these turf types unless control and/or injury can be tolerated. A surfactant is recommended with Meso 4SC Select to improve weed control and provide a better stick to the leaf surface of the weeds.
