Merit 2F is an insecticide product manufactured by Bayer and is a popular turf insect killer, namely grubs, ashborers and other invasive pests. With its Imidacloprid active ingredient, Merit 2F delivers outstanding residual control of numerous ornamental pests by interfering with nerve impulses and disrupting insect behavior. Pests that ingest Merit 2F stop feeding, stop reproducing and eventually die out. To address invasive turf damaging pests, Merit 2F can be a solid option.

Tools Needed

To apply Merit 2F, use either a hose end sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or skid sprayer.

How to Use

Treating Bushes with Dominion 2L

  • Step 1: Determine how much Merit 2F you need by calculating the square footage of the area you wish to treat. To do this, you will need to measure and multiply the length times the width of the treatment area (length x width = square footage). For general purpose turf and ornamental applications, you can apply Merit 2F at a rate of 0.46 to 0.6 fl oz. in a gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. So for example, if you calculated a 3,000 sq. ft. area for treatment you would need to mix 1.38 to 1.8 fl. oz. of Merit 2F in 3 gallons of water.
  • Step 2: Begin filling your sprayer tank with a 1/2 gallon of water. Shake the concentrate well before adding the correct amount of Merit 2F to the spray tank. Fill the spray tank the rest of the way with water and then agitate the sprayer. When the product is well-mixed, you are ready to spray.
  • Step 3: Spray the solution evenly on areas where treatment is needed. Reapply when needed. Use a fan nozzle spray setting for uniform coverage.

Where to Use

Lawn Broadcast Treatment with Dominion 2L

When to Use

Merit 2F could be used whenever there is an infestation of plant damaging insects present. Best results are achieved when applications are made preceding or during the egg-laying period followed by sufficient watering or rainfall to move the active ingredient through the thatch.

Merit 2F Insecticide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label and after the product is dry. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying Merit 2F Insecticide.
