Malathion Liquid Concentrate
Malathion Liquid Concentrate is a broad-spectrum insecticide known for its quick knockdown and impressive residual effect. It is used to treat outdoor flying pests like flies and mosquitoes.
Malathion Liquid Concentrate, manufactured by Zoecon, is a liquid insecticide concentrate that does an impressive job against a wide list of insects that can infest yards.
The product is versatile against common turf insects and insects that like to infest crops. You can use this product to knock down pests quickly, and it also provides good residual control where applied.
Tools Needed
For broadcast spray, you will need a handheld pump sprayer or hose-end sprayer. For larger applications, you will need a pesticide spraying rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Identify where preventive treatment or immediate treatment is needed, then determine how much Malathion Liquid Concentrate you will need by calculating the square footage of the target area. To do this, measure the treatment areas' length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length x width = square footage). The rate varies depending on the pest you are trying to treat and where you are spraying. For example, for small applications to control flies, the rate is 2.5 oz. (5 tablespoons) per 1,000 sq. ft. in a gallon of water on painted surfaces or 2 gallons per 1,000 sq. ft. on unpainted surfaces.
- Step 2: Before adding this product, the sprayer tank should be filled with at least 3/4 water for proper mixing. Add the appropriate amount of Malathion based on your calculations and the pest you are treating. Shake the sprayer occasionally or agitate to keep spray particles in suspension during application.
- Step 3: Spray the desired surface areas until they are wet. Depending on the surface type, one gallon covers up to 1,000 sq. ft.
- Step 4: For continuous control, respray areas within 2 to 3 weeks or as needed.
Where to Use
Malathion Liquid Concentrate can be used on lawns, gardens, crop sites, pastures, range grasses, outdoor ornamentals, on and around cull fruit and vegetable dumps, and sites where grain is stored.
When to Use
This product should be used as a prevention method in lawns and gardens. The residual effects will kill insects for up to 2 or 3 weeks. If using it as a quick-kill method, spray directly on pests when they are first noticed.
Safety Information
Malathion Liquid Concentrate is safe to use for children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until 24 hours have passed after application.
Special Considerations
Malathion should not be tank-mixed with other pesticides, surfactants, or fertilizers unless prior use has shown the combination to be non-injurious under your conditions of use.
