Kontos Greenhouse And Nursery Insecticide/Miticide
Kontos Greenhouse And Nursery Insecticide/Miticide is a highly effective systemic pesticide that manages difficult insect and mite pests in greenhouses, nurseries, and interiorscapes.
04/11/26
Kontos Greenhouse And Nursery Insecticide/Miticide, manufactured by OHP, is an effective systemic miticide and insecticide that controls a broad-spectrum of insects and mites on greenhouse and nursery crops within several days.
This suspended concentrate is formulated with the active ingredient spirotetramat, which offers systemic control of a wide range of piercing-sucking insects and mites such as thrips, whiteflies, and spider mites. Unlike contact insecticides, Kontos is absorbed into the plant and provides two-way systemic activity, moving both upward (xylem) and downward (phloem) within the plant. This makes it ideal for controlling pests hidden in plant tissues or hard-to-reach areas.
Kontos Greenhouse And Nursery Insecticide/Miticide is unique because it’s the only insecticide/miticide that moves bidirectionally through plant tissues. This means that once it is applied and absorbed, it protects the entire plant, including new growth, for extended residual control.
Tools Needed
It can be applied with a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or chemigation system.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Kontos Greenhouse And Nursery Insecticide/Miticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For foliar applications on ornamentals grown in greenhouses, apply 1.7 to 3.4 fl. oz. of Kontos Greenhouse And Nursery Insecticide/Miticide per 100 gallons of water or 0.051 fl. oz. of product per 3 gallons of water. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of foliage until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Follow the application with moderate irrigation for containerized plants. Irrigate carefully during the next 10 days to avoid losing active ingredients in container plants.
Where to Use
Kontos Greenhouse And Nursery Insecticide/Miticide can be used on ornamentals, fruit and nut trees, and vegetable plants in greenhouses, nurseries and interiorscapes.
When to Use
Apply when pest activity begins and avoid applications when rainfall is expected within the next 48 hours after spraying.
