Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade
09/14/25
Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade, manufactured by PF Harris, is a natural anti-caking agent powder when mixed with animal feed. Once applied with animal feed it helps improve their health to fight against diseases and the quality of food for animals.
It is composed of small diatom shells (non-food) designed as cylinders full of holes that work to absorb and carry various viruses and bacteria. Mixed with feed or eaten on a regular basis as a supplement, this product passes through the animal's stomach and intestines to fight against these diseases and potential parasite activity. This is a physical action, not a chemical action.
Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade is an OMRI (Organic Minerals Research Institute)- listed product that increases your animal's health without the use of additional additives or fillers.
Tools Needed
No additional tools are needed as this product comes with an included powder duster and extension nozzle. You will need to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as an approved respirator and goggle.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine the weight and age of the animal prior to being fed the Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade.
- Step 2: For dogs and cats, the application rate of Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade is as follows: apply 1/2 to 1 teaspoon per cat, 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon per kitten, dogs over 100 pounds use 2 tablespoons, dogs 50 to 100 pounds use 1 tablespoon, dogs under 50 pounds apply 1 tablespoon, and mini dogs use 1/2 teaspoon. Apply the needed amount over the top of dry food or mix it into wet food or table scraps, then add the dry pet food.
- Step 3: For fowls and poultry, use 1/2 to 1% of the total weight of the dry ration or per pellet. You may also place this product material into their favorite dusting spots, where they will throw it over themselves.
- Step 4: For goats, sheep, and swine kept in limited enclosures they should be fed 2% of the total weight of their feed. This means that for every feed 50 lbs. of feed you should mix in 1 lb. of Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade. You can top dress- add the 2 oz. of product material to the bucket of feed and mix it in for goats and sheep.
- Step 5: Cattle and horses will receive 1/2 to 1 coffee mug of Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade with feed for each animal daily or a minimum of 4 oz. daily. For calves, apply 1 1/2 oz. of product to one gallon of milk replacement. At calf weight of 300 to 350 lbs. start with 2 oz.
- Step 6: Feeding the proper amount of Harris Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade on a daily basis will afford the greatest benefits. Daily feeding allows your animal to receive the most nutrition possible from their feed without sharing nutrition with unwanted pests. Keep plenty of fresh drinking water available for the animal.
