Gentrol Point Source IGR disks are an easy to use insect growth regulator for long term control of many pests. In a convenient ready to use disk just crack the module and place in the desired area. Each disk will treat 75 square feet for up to 7 months.

Target Pests

Gentrol Point Source is intended for use on bed bugs fleas german roaches drain flies pantry pests and other listed insects.

For Use In

Gentrol is for use in homes restaurants hotels hospitals offices schools and many other areas.

Gentrol Point Source is a very easy to use product. Just activate the Gentrol by simply squeezing the capsule on the adhesive-backed disk. This will release the IGR onto the paper filter and begin to prevent roaches from reproducing.

After activating the Gentrol Point Source it can be attached using the adhesive-backing in and around closets, cabinets, drawers, pantries, refuse areas, equipment, electrical boxes, false ceilings, doors, dressers, windows, heating and a/c ducts, refrigerators, and also in voids where the pests may be harboring.

The active ingredient hydroprene will creep along surfaces around the disk getting into every nook and cranny so the pest insects cannot hide. These are excellent to place and forget for long term control of many insects.

Coverage Area

Each disk of Gentrol will treat 75 square feet so an entire box will treat 1500 square feet. Generally 2-3 in a kitchen or 1-2 in a bathroom is plenty if spaced properly.

Time to Kill

An IGR does not kill the insect. It acts like birth control for bugs by interrupting the development cycle of the insect. Insects that are born from a treated adult will have deformed reproductive organs and not be able to reproduce. It is best to combine Gentrol Point Source with a adulticide for immediate control.

Kill off Future Generations of Roaches with Gentrol Point Source

A roach control device, Gentrol Point Source features the insect growth regulator (IGR) active ingredient (S)-hydroprene which can deliver up to 90 days of control.

Hydroprene is a synthetic juvenile hormone imitator used to disrupt the target pests (namely cockroaches) normal growth pattern. The intent of Gentrol Point Source IGR is to inhibit the growth of juveniles that are exposed to the compound so they're unable to reproduce into adults. This discreet, non-spray format utilizes a translocating active ingredient to reach hard-to-treat areas. Zoëcon’s Gentrol Point Source is approved for food-handling and kitchen areas.

Gentrol Point Source comes in disk form rather than in a spray can which allows for easy "set and forget" treatment of high active areas. These plastic disks activate when squeezed and can control within 75 sq. ft. Simply p
lace the Gentrol Point Source device in areas where roach or stored product pest activity has been observed.

Gentrol Point Source is a popular IGR option among professionals who are fighting cockroaches and pantry pests since both of those species can lay several eggs a day, which makes controlling their populations a nightmare task to tackle.

When used in a full cockroach control program, Gentrol Point Source helps stop the endless cycle of reproduction that makes a cockroach infestation so hard to beat. This addition can be the difference between success and failure in a pest control job.

Our Solutions experts regard Gentrol as a vital part of a cockroach control program and include it in our Solutions guaranteed cockroach control kits.

Why Use Gentrol IGR?

One of the most aggravating things about controlling pests is their ability to reproduce so quickly. What seemed like a minor problem last week is now a major infestation. Insect growth regulators are the ideal companion to any pest control DIY task because they are your best backup.

IGRs help prevent rebound of infestations. The best way to understand how insect growth regulators fit into your program is to take a look at the pest life cycle. Insects develop in one or two ways before they become adults--either a complete or gradual metamorphosis. Gentrol IGR is effective in halting both cycles.

Cockroaches and bed bugs grow in what is called a gradual metamorphosis. In a gradual metamorphosis the young look similar to the adult but won't have wings and may have slightly different color. As soon as the egg hatches, the young are called nymphs. Nymphs undergo several growth stages, or molts, before becoming adults. It is during the nymph stage that cockroaches and bed bugs are the most vulnerable to Gentrol IGR. This gives you your best chance to stop them.

When a nymph is ready to molt into an adult and comes into contact with an insect growth regulator, the nymph becomes stuck in the current growth stage. The reproductive organs don't develop and the roaches don't grow wings. The bottom line? The insect becomes sterile and breeding cannot take place and future generations are not produced.

The second type of metamorphosis is called complete. Imagine the ugly caterpillar pupating and turning into a beautiful butterfly. This is the best example of a complete metamorphosis. The young insects don't look anything like the adults they become. Many types of stored product pests have this type of metamorphosis. When the young are exposed to the IGR before pupating, they will due during molting or do not emerge as adults.

Gentrol IGR contains hydroprene which is a man-made equivalent of natural insect bio chemicals. These biochemicals are what cause molting to take place. Gentrol, in essence, provides an overload of molting biochemicals and this interferes with normal growth into the adult stage. You'll either see sterile adults or dead pupae indicating the end of a cycle of infestation.

There are additional benefits to using Gentrol IGR. Hydroprene is registered to the EPA as a biochemical because it has lower toxicity than conventional pesticides. This is what makes Gentrol the perfect solution to long term pest control in areas where food is prepared or stored. Gentrol products are odorless and have low toxicity and are a good fit for customers looking for an effective "greener" approach to pest control.

Gentrol is a forgiving molecule meaning that it can move into areas that have not been treated, going into hard to reach areas like wall voids, behind equipment and other areas where pests like to hide. When adult egg-bearing female cockroaches come in contact with hydroprene, they are often stimulated to feed which will make your baiting program more effective. Gentrol may also decrease the tolerance that some roaches have developed to insecticides. It's a win/win situation.

How to Use Gentrol Point Source

Using Gentrol is easy. Simply squeeze the raised back end of the plastic disk until you hear it break. This lets you know that the active ingredient has been released. The Gentrol IGR then drops onto a filter paper inside the disk.  From there, the chemical travels up to 75 square foot distance. This way, pests never need to come in contact with the device to be affected by it. This is because the hydroprene will travel into cracks and crevices to provide protection against infestation rebound.  Once applied, Gentrol can be effective for up to 3 months.

Gentrol can be used anywhere, even in sensitive areas where food is stored. It has a sticky back end when can be placed on walls and in drawers and cabinets and other hard to reach and hard to treat areas.

1. To activate Gentrol Point Source, press firmly between the thumb and forefinger on the pouch until a snapping sound is heard. Once you hear a snap, the contents of the Gentrol capsule have been released.

2. The device can be placed vertically or horizontally. Make sure not to place in areas accessible to children or pets.

Tips on Using Gentrol Point Source

  • Pay particular attention to locations of roach activity. More devices may be needed in areas with a heavy roach infestation. Gentrol Point Source may be used in areas where food is handled or prepared. Do not place the devices in direct contact with food preparation surfaces or within two feet of exposed food.

  • Within weeks of application, you may start to see deformed roaches with crinkled wings. This is a result of the effects of Gentrol. Gentrol point sources prevents stored product pests from becoming adults thus breaking the life cycle.

  • Gentrol not only works against cockroaches but can also control the eggs of fruit flies, drain flies, stored product pests and bed bugs.

  • Gentrol can be used in a variety of areas such as in your home, hotels, restaurants and commercial kitchens.
