Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide
Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide
Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide is an advanced and modern non-selective herbicide offering multiple woody plant control methods for forest sites, non-crop areas, and roadsides.
Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a professional post-emergent herbicide that uses a new plant-derived, methylated seed oil formulation for cleaner vegetation management.
With its active ingredient triclopyr 60.45%, it effectively targets a broad spectrum of woody plants and broadleaf weeds such as ash, dogwood, and poison ivy.
Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide is a versatile and effictive non-selective herbicide that gives increased efficiency on multiple weed species and provides additional flexibility to meet special needs.
Tools Needed
Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide can be applied with a backpack sprayer or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide can be used by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). General applications will use 1 to 8 quarts of Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide per 40 gallons of water per acre for broadleaf weeds and woody plants. Refer the label for specific rates.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the spray tank lid and agitate until the solution is well-mixed. If the mixture stands over four hours, reagitation is required.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves with Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide until wet, but not to the point of runoff.
Where to Use
Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide can be used in forest sites, non-cropland areas (including: electrical power and utility
rights-of-way, industrial sites, non-irrigation ditch banks, pipelines, railroads, and roadsides), natural areas and wildlife habitat and management areas, and including grazed areas on all of these listed sites.
Do not apply this product directly to, or otherwise permit it to come into direct contact with cotton, grapes, peanuts, soybeans, tobacco, vegetable crops, flowers, citrus, or other desirable broadleaf plants.
When to Use
Apply Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide when woody plants stems are less than 6 inches and when broadleaf weeds are present, which typically is late spring to early summer.
Do not harvest hay for 14 days after application.
Safety Information
Garlon 4 Ultra Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not enter or allow other people and pets to enter the treated area until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Sprays applied directly to Christmas trees may result in conifer injury. When treating unwanted vegetation in Christmas tree plantations, care should be taken to direct sprays away from conifers.
Spray may cause temporary damage and growth suppression where contact with conifers occurs; however, injured conifers should recover and grow normally. Over-the-top spray applications can kill pines.

Keith's Pro Tips | "It is suggested that a continuous smoke column at or near the spray site or a smoke generator on the spray equipment be used to detect air movement, lapse conditions, or temperature inversions (stable air). If the smoke layers or indicates a potential of hazardous spray drift, do not spray." |
