Foundation Turf Herbicide
Foundation Turf Herbicide is a powerful, broad-spectrum post-emergent herbicide with a unique formulation that enhances translocation, ensures consistent performance, and provides flexible, turf-safe application across residential, commercial, and non-crop areas.
04/13/26
Foundation Turf Herbicide, manufactured by Wilbur-Ellis, is a next-level post-emergent herbicide that contains a unique four-way combination of active ingredients, including an advanced DEA formulation of 2,4-D to combat tough broadleaf weeds in ornamental turf, non-cropland, commercial sod production, and more.
Together, the four active ingredient combo knocks down everything from plantain and dandelion to nutsedge, clover, and wild violet, even in tough, mixed-turf environments. The DEA salt of 2,4-D makes it more environmentally responsible than ester-based products while still delivering outstanding movement through the plant.
Foundation Turf Herbicide is a broad-spectrum herbicide that controls over 90 broadleaf weeds and the varied modes of action help delay resistance development - a key concern in modern weed management. This selective herbicide stands out with turf-safe performance, delivering fast results without compromising plant health, while offering minimal application restrictions and excellent tank-mix compatibility making it a reliable, flexible solution for professional weed control programs.
Tools Needed
You will need a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Foundation Turf Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For cool-seasoned turf, use 1.2 to 1.5 fl. oz. of Foundation Turf Herbicide per 0.25 to 5.0 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For spot treatments in turfgrass, mix 1.2 to 1.5 fl. oz. of this product per 1 gallon of water for treatment of approximately 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. If possible, do not irrigate or water the turfgrass within 6 to 24 hours after application. A second application can be made when 30 days have passed from the first treatment.
