FomAsate Herbicide
FomAsate Herbicide, manufactured by Drexel, is a liquid formulation for the control of broadleaf, grassy and sedge weeds in cotton and soybean crops.
This easy-to-use formula provides visible activity in as little as 24 hours. FomAsate Herbicide contains two modes of action, sodium salt of Fomesafen 5.88% and Glyphosate 22.40%. This combination combats weed resistance to herbicides in crops.
FomAsate Herbicide is a good addition to integrated pest management practices.
Tools Needed
To use FomAsate Herbicide, you will need to mix the product into a sprayer of your choosing such as a pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or a professional spray rig for large volumes.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much FomAsate Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, you will need to measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take your square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). For a post-emergent application in Roundup Ready cotton with FomAsate Herbicide you will use 3.5 to 5.3 pints of products per 15 gallons of water per acre. Application rates vary depending on the region and weeds targeted. Refer to the product label for more specific rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer tank with half of the required amount of water and then add the measured amount of FomAsate Herbicide. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with the remaining water. Close the sprayer and shake it till the product is well mixed.
- Step 3: Spray the target weed with the FomAsate Herbicide mixture, make sure to get even coverage via a fan spray setting. If you are applying this as a split application you will need to wait 10 to 14 days before you reapply.
Where to Use
Use FomAsate Herbicide on labeled weeds in glyphosate-tolerant cotton and soybean crops.
When to Use
Depending on the crop or weed, the application times will vary. Apply FomAsate Herbicide when weeds first emerge in the labeled crop.
Avoid applying this product to weeds or labeled crops which are under stress from drought, extreme temperatures, excessive water, low humidity, low soil fertility, and mechanical or chemical injury as reduced weed control can increase and/or crop injury may result.
Safety Information
FomAsate Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area for 24 hours after application.
Do not graze rotated small grain crops or harvest forage or straw for livestock.
Do not apply this product later than 70 days before harvest.
Special Considerations
When adequate moisture is not received 7 days after the application of FomAsate Herbicide, weed control may be improved by overhead irrigation with at least a one-fourth inch of water.
