Echelon 4SC Herbicide
10/05/25
Echelon 4SC Herbicide is produced by FMC Professional Solutions. It is formulated for both post-emergent and pre-emergent control of crabgrass, and nutsedge found in various types of turfs and lawns. Echelon 4SC can is safe to use on golf courses, sod farms, and residential lawns.
The active ingredients sulfentrazone and prodiamine work together to kill targeted weeds from absorbing into the leafy tissue and up through the root system to ensure elimination. Echelon 4SC can be applied to bentgrass, Kentucky bluegrass, Bermuda grass, and more.
Tools Needed
To apply Echelon 4SC a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or professional skid sprayer is needed. A handheld pump sprayer is recommended for treating small areas.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine the square footage of the treatment area in order to calculate how much Echelon 4SC you will need. You can do this by multiplying the length and width of the target area (length x width = square footage). Depending on the weed being treated and your grass type, Echelon 4SC should be applied between 0.18 to 0.83 fl. oz. in 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For example, if your treatment area measures 3,000 sq. ft., you will need to mix between 0.55 to 2.47 fl. oz. in 3 gallons of water.
- Step 2: For general purpose applications made with a handheld pump sprayer, begin by filling the sprayer with a 1/2 gallon of water then add the proper measured amount of Echelon 4SC based on the weed you are treating and calculations. Fill the sprayer the rest of the way with water and mix well by shaking the spray tank and you're ready to apply.
- Step 3: Spray desired areas to eliminate targeted weeds, preferably via fan spray setting just before the point of runoff. Applications can be made more than once a year, as long as the application does not exceed 36 ounces a year.
Where to Use
Echelon 4SC can be applied to residential and commercial lawns, sports fields, commercial sod farms, golf course fairways, roadsides, utility right-of-ways and industrial sites. Do not apply Echelon to turfs or lawns that are unhealthy or grasses that are not well established.
When to Use
Echelon 4SC should be applied in late summer, fall, or winter before targeted weeds germinate to achieve control. Echelon can also be applied as a post-emergent control herbicide and applied to weeds after growth begins.
The type of weeds that can be controlled is determined if Echelon 4SC is used as a pre-emergent or post-emergent herbicide, which means for the best results apply before weeds germinate.
Safety Information
Echelon 4SC is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to product label. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment when mixing and applying Echelon 4SC. Allow treated areas to dry before entering.
Special Considerations
Do not spray Echelon 4SC with adjuvants or surfactants with post-emergent applications until it has been tested on a small area first. Do not exceed application rates shown on the label per grass type.
