Fluridone RTU
Fluridone RTU
Fluridone RTU is manufactured by Alligare and is a ready-to-use herbicide designed for controlling aquatic vegetation in fresh water ponds, lakes, reservoirs, potable water sources, drainage canals and irrigation canals.
The active ingredient of Alligare Fluridone RTU is fluridone which is absorbed quickly by aquatic plant species, while any surplus product is broken down by sunlight. Alligare Fluridone RTU is effective because it controls the weed in its entirety, including the roots. Aquatic plants treated with Alligare Fluridone RTU will wilt and/or turn white in 3 to 6 weeks following application.
Tools Needed
There are no tools required to use Fluridone RTU as it comes in a ready-to-use bottle that has a built-in applicator tip. We do recommend having gloves and long sleeve clothing before applying the product.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine the amount of Fluridone RTU you need by measuring your pond size and depth. The formula to follow is pond acres x pond average depth (in feet) = amount of Fluridone RTU bottles needed. Fluridone RTU is one quart (32 oz.). So for example, if your pond size is 0.5 acres x 4.0-foot average depth, you will need 2 quarts or 2 bottles of Fluridone RTU. Consult the rate chart on the label for details.
- Step 2: Fluridone RTU comes in a convenient squeeze bottle that only requires the user to lift the nozzle on the lid and squirt the Fluridone RTU directly into the water. You will apply half of the total dose on day one then wait 21 days to apply a second dosage of 1 to 2 quarts and apply a third dosage on the 42nd day.
- Step 3: Simply apply Fluridone RTU at one spot and the Fluridone RTU will disperse throughout the water.
Where to Use
Fluridone RTU is designed to be used in freshwater ponds, lakes, reservoirs, potable water sources, drainage canals and irrigation canals.
When to Use
Use Fluridone RTU if your pond is being hampered by undesired pond weeds that may be interfering with recreation and ruining the overall look of your pond. Apply when weeds are actively growing or are just starting to grow for best results.

Q:We have a 1 1/2 acre pond that is shallow at the edges but 11 ft deep in the middle....It is home to fish and ducks. The pond is currently covered in duckweed and moss, how much of this product would we need to clear it please?6/22/17A:It requires the average depth of the pond and this has a 3 day application formula, please call or refer to the product label to calculate your exact usage. Pond area (in acres) x Pond average depth (in feet) = Quantity of Alligare Fluridone RTU to apply (in quarts) Example: 1.7 acre pond x 6.0 foot average depth = 10.2 (rounded up to 10.5 quarts)

Q:How about affecting fish in the pond??12/9/16A:The Fluridone RTU will not affect fish in a pond that has been treated, only recommendations is to follow directions and in higher temperatures to apply to sections of the pond if aquatic weeds are excessive, as not to create a quick lack of oxygen.
