Flex-Guard Fungicide
Flex-Guard Fungicide
Flex-Guard Fungicide, manufactured by CSI, is a liquid contact fungicide that provides preventative control of persistent diseases like dollar spot or brown patch occurring on turfgrasses within golf courses.
This products unique formulation is seen with its active ingredient fluazinam 40.0%, which makes this the only turfgrass fungicide classified by FRAC in group 29. Fluazinam works by inhibiting multiple germination processes of fungal and disease spores leading to less disease resistance in turfgrass infestations.
Flex-Guard Fungicide is an easy to fungicide with no known resistance to turf diseases and allows continual protection as long as it is applied no more than 12 times a year.
Tools Needed
Flex-Guard Fungicide may be applied with either a handheld pump sprayer, ground application equipment, or shielded sprayer.
Do not apply this product through any irrigation system or aerial application equipment.
How to Use
- Step 1: Mow your turf when it has reached 3 inches in height prior to application to allow the product to thoroughly cover the area. Determine how much Flex-Guard Fungicide to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment site. To find this, measure the length and width of the treatment site in feet and multiply (length X width = square footage). The application rate is 0.5 oz. of Flex-Guard Fungicide per gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Do not exceed 253 oz. of this product per acre per year. This product should only be applied 12 times a year at the maximum rate of 0.5 oz. of product per 1,000 sq. ft. per year.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water, add measured amount of Flex-Guard Fungicide and other fungicide if used, then pour in the remaining half of water. Close the sprayer tank lid and shake until solution is well-mixed. Continual agitate to avoid separation of product.
- Step 3: Spray at a height of 3 feet above the ground until wet, but not to the point of run-off. Allow treated areas to dry before mowing and watering. Do not apply at less than 14 day intervals.
Where to Use
Flex-Guard Fungicide can only be used on turfgrasses in golf courses sites such as golf course tees, greens, fairways, and roughs.
Do not apply this product to home lawns (turf), or any other residential turf, or within 25 feet of permanent water bodies (lakes, reservoirs, rivers, permanent streams, marshes or natural ponds, and estuaries). In the state of New York, this product should not be applied within 100 feet of any water bodies that connect with any off-site water bodies including a freshwater lake, pond, river, stream or wetland.
When to Use
Use Flex-Guard Fungicide prior to disease emergence or when conditions are starting to become favorable such as excessive rain, thatch, or change of season. For example, since brown patch occurrence is most likely to occur in the summer then treatments will need to be done in May or June, and in the fall when temperatures drop below 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
Apply when there is no snow or present diseases on the golf course turf. Spray early in the morning when there is wind below 10 mph and rainfall not predicted for 24 hours after application.
Safety Information
Flex-Guard Fungicide is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or spraying this product.
Do not enter treated areas until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Although Flex-Guard Fungicide has been evaluated on several turf species with no indication of phytotoxicity, neither the manufacturer nor seller has determined whether or not this product can be used safely on all turf species.
