Ferti-lome Over the Top II Grass Killer

Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer, manufactured by VPG, is an fast and effective selective systemic grass killer used to eliminate the toughest of annual grassy weeds such as crabgrass or bermudagrass.

As a systemic herbicide, Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer will quickly travel through the entire plant after the foliage absorbs it. Within two days, you will see your targeted foliage exhibit leaf and stem curling and eventually death. The best part of this application is due to the active ingredient sethoxydim 18.0%, it will only eliminate the listed foliage without harming desirable plants in the vicinity

Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer is a great liquid herbicide for treating emerged weeds around trees and shrubs. For better results, you will need to add an oil concentrate to increase the Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer elimination rate.

Tools Needed

You will need either a handheld sprayer, backpack sprayer, or a hose end sprayer. For most general applications, a handheld or backpack sprayer is recommended.

This product will need to be applied with an oil concentrate such as a nonionic surfactant. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer to use by measuring the treatment area square footage. To find the square footage, measure it in feet and then multiply the length and width together (length X width = square footage). For spot treatments and hose end sprayer applications, apply 1 fl. oz. of Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer with 1 fl. oz. of oil concentrate per gallon of water per 1,800 sq. ft. For example, if you have a treatment area of 5,400 sq. ft., divide this by the standard treatment area square footage (1,800) to determine you will need 3 fl. oz. of product and surfactant to apply for the total treatment area (treatment area / 1,800 sq. ft. = 3 oz. of product and surfactant to use).
• Step 2: To mix, you will first fill your selected sprayer halfway with the appropriate amount of water, then add the measured amount of Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer and surfactant, and add the remaining amount of water inside the sprayer. Secure the sprayer lid, then shake thoroughly until the spray mixture is evenly mixed.
• Step 3: Go to the application area and pump the handle of the sprayer to pressurize. For hose-end sprayers, adjust the sprayer settings until the sprayer can be applied at a low-pressure volume. With your selected sprayer, apply a coarse spray pattern evenly to the targeted area and weed surfaces until wet. Avoid spraying to the point of runoff. Depending on the location and foliage, a second application can be applied, but the time it can be applied will vary.

Where to Use

Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer may be used in residential lawns, flowers, bedding plants, evergreens shrubs, trees, and ornamental groundcovers.

Refer to the label for specific trees, shrubs, fruits, and vegetable species to treat.

When to Use

Use to spray over the top of desirable plants infested by grassy weeds or directly spray onto young or established weed leaves. Apply this product when weeds are actively growing, typically in the spring, but do not exceed the minimum of days to harvest. Refer to the label as some species of plants have different days when they can be applied due to their harvest dates.

For best results, spray on a warm, day where rainfall is not expected within one hour after application.

Safety Information

Ferti-lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.

Wait at least 24 hours or until the spray mixture has dried before allowing children, pets, or other individuals to enter the treatment area.

Special Considerations

Ferti-Lome Over the Top ll Grass Killer can be used on many species of plants, except Azaleas (var. Snow), Japanese Privet, Potentilla, Snow in Summer, Red Oak and White Oak, and ornamental grass.

This product does not control sedge (including Nutsedge or Nutgrass), Annual Bluegrass, or broadleaf weeds. Red Fescue, Chewings Fescue, Hard Fescue, and Dichondra Turfs are also tolerant to this product

This product needs to be applied with an oil concentration. If used alone, results will not be as quickly seen.
