Dupont Hyvar X Herbicide

Dupont Hyvar X Herbicide, manufactured by Dupont, is a reliable non-selective wettable powder herbicide solution for long-term vegetation control in non-cropland areas.

Tools Needed

A watering can, boom sprayer, backpack sprayer, knapsack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig will be needed. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Dupont Hyvar X Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For control of annual broadleaf weeds and grasses, apply 3-6 pounds of Dupont Hyvar X Herbicide per 40 gallons of water per acre. For perennial broadleaf weeds and grasses, use 7-15 pounds of product per 40 gallons of water per acre. To make basal spot treatments, mix 2 1/2 pounds in 5 gallons of water and apply at the rate of 1 to 2 fl. oz. per stem 2" to 4" in basal diameter. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is mixed.
• Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of the weed leaves to the point of runoff. For basal spot treatments, wet the base of the stem at the point of runoff. Moisture is necessary to move the herbicide into the root zone of weeds.

Where to Use

Dupont Hyvar X Herbicide can be used for citrus, pineapples, non-crop areas, and under asphalt and concrete pavement, such as that used in parking lots, highway shoulders, median strips, roadways, and other industrial sites.

Listed non-crop areas can be seen as: uncultivated non-agricultural areas (such as, airports, highway, railroad and utility rights-of-way, sewage disposal areas); uncultivated agricultural areas (non-crop producing, which includes: farmyards, fuel storage areas, fence rows, barrier strips); industrial sites (outdoor, such as, lumberyards, pipeline and tank farms).

Do not apply to open water (such as lakes, reservoirs, rivers, streams, creeks, salt water bays or estuaries) nor while water is present in fresh water wetlands (such as marshes, swamps, bogs or potholes) nor to salt water marshes within tidal areas nor to ditches, banks along waterways or impervious substrates, nor to areas near desirable plants where roots of these plants may extend.

When to Use

Best results are obtained if treatment is made to moist soil, and moisture is supplied by rainfall or sprinkler irrigation within two weeks after application.

Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until the spray has dried.
