Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide
Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide
Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is an effective broad-spectrum protectant fungicide that completely controls major diseases in turf and ornamental sites such as greenhouses.
This granular formulation uses the active ingredient mancozeb 75.0%, guaranteeing total disease and superior rainfast prevention to a wide variety of treatment area. Due to its rainfast technology, this product improves the fungicides effectiveness under heavy rainfall and extreme heat or humidity.
Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide offers optimum disease prevention and long-lasting protection of several fungal outbreaks like copper spot, brown patch, and pythium blight.
Tools Needed
Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide can be applied with a handheld pump sprayer, aerial application equipment, and chemigation system (only sprinkler irrigation systems).
This product can be used with most commonly used fungicides, insecticides and growth regulators.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). To treat sod farm turf, limit to a maximum of 4 applications per year and a maximum rate of 23.2 lb of Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide in 100 gallons of water per acre per application. For cool-seasoned grasses; greens, tees and aprons on golf course, limit to a maximum of 5 applications per year at a maximum application rate of 23.2 lb of product in 100 gallons of water per acre per application. For cool season grasses; fairways on golf courses, limit to a maximum of 4 applications per year at a maximum application rate of 23.2 lb of product in 100 gallons of water per acre per application. For warm season grasses; greens, tees and aprons on golf courses, limit to a maximum of 4 applications per year at a maximum application rate of 23.2 lb of product in 100 gallons of water per acre per application. For warm season grasses; fairways on golf courses, limit to a maximum of 3 applications per year at a maximum application rate of 23.2 lb of product in 100 gallons of water per acre per application. All other assorted grass turf, use 4 to 8 oz. of product in 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. depending on the disease. For outdoor (field nursery) or greenhouse use, apply 1 to 2 lbs. of product in 100 gallons of water per acre.
- Step 2: When using a handheld pump sprayer, premix Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide as a slurry in a small container before adding to the spray tank. Pour half of the required amount of water into the handheld sprayer and the other half into the separate tank mix container. Slowly pour the appropriate amount of product into a small container containing part of the required amount of water while mixing. Mix until the product is thoroughly wetted. Add additional water if necessary to make solution flowable. Add the contents of the slurry tank into the handheld pump sprayer filled with half the amount of water, continue filling tank with remainder of water and mix well. Always add this product into solution prior to adding any additional materials to the tank.
- Step 3: When using large volume spray equipment such as chemigation or aerial, spray the Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide solution 5 to 10 feet above the crop canopy. Applications with handheld pump sprayers should be used to spray plant foliage until it is thoroughly wet, but not to the point of runoff. Repeat at 10-day intervals as long as condition persists.
Where to Use
Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide is for use on sod farms, golf courses, industrial and commercial lawns and other similar nonresidential areas.
This product cannot be used on residential or athletic turf, and in residential greenhouses.
When to Use
Apply Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide to well-maintained turfgrasses when the grass first greens-up in spring or when disease first appears. Ornamentals can be treated when plants are well leafed out or at first sign of disease throughout the season.

Keith's Pro Tips | "Turfgrass that is under stress will not respond to fungicide treatments as well as turfgrass that is well maintained. For this reason, we suggest keeping up with regular mowing, raking fallen plant materials, and adjusting watering schedule to no more than an inch of irrigation once per week in the early morning." |
Product Drawbacks | Dithane 75DF Rainshield Specialty Fungicide will cure minor disease outbreaks, but will not control major infestations. This product is mainly a preventative fungicide. |
