Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide, manufactured by Bayer, is a dry flowable granule, broad-spectrum herbicide that is made for controlling over 100 annual and perennial broadleaf weeds in pastures and rangelands.

Formulated with metsulfuron methyl 8% and chlorsulfuron 15%, which work together to control weeds before they emerge and after with visible results showing within 1 to 3 weeks after application.

Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide can be applied as a pre-emergent or early post-emergent treatment and can even be mixed with a liquid fertilizer for weed and feed applications.

Tools Needed:

To use Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide, you will need a hand pump sprayer, a backpack sprayer, or a hose-end sprayer. For large volume application, this product can be applied with a spray rig, a boom sprayer or even aerial application.

How to Use:

  • Step 1: Determine how much Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide you will need by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, you will need to measure and multiply the target area length times the width (length x width = square footage). For acreage, you will need to take the square footage and divide by 43,560 (square footage/43,560 = acreage). For broadcast applications, Cimarron Plus should be applied at a rate of 0.125 to 1.25 ounces (depending on the weed being controlled) per acre in up to 100 gallons of water. A nonionic surfactant should also be added to the solution at a rate of 0.5 to 1 pint per 100 gallons of spray solution. Do not apply more 2.0 ounces of product per acre per year.
  • Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water, then measure and add the required amount of product based on your calculations and the weed you wish to treat. Thoroughly agitate your sprayer to dissolve the granules, then add the rest of the water. Agitate your sprayer again and then add nonionic surfactant. Mix well and then you're ready to apply.
  • Step 3:  Apply the mixed solution evenly over the desired area, making sure not to overlap and reduce drift as much as possible. Reapply as recommended by the label, and be sure not to over-apply as this could damage the plants. Once 24 hours have passed after application, you can apply one to two inches of rainfall or sprinkler irrigation (enough to wet the top 2-3 inches of soil profile) to move the product into the weed root zone before the next flush of weeds emerge. Weed and brush control or suppression may be reduced if rainfall, sprinkler irrigation or snowfall occurs within 4 hours after application.

Where to Use:

Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide is intended for use on rangelands, pastures, grass hay fields, or grasses in the conservation reserve program (CRP).

Do not use on lawns, walks, driveways, tennis courts, golf courses, athletic fields, commercial sod operations, or other high-maintenance, fine turfgrass areas, or similar areas. It may also not be used on grasses grown for seed.

When to Use:

Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide can be used as a pre-plant (prior to planting) or pre-emergent (after planting but before grass emergence). It can also be used as an early post-emergent application to new plantings. On established grasses it is best applied on actively growing weeds from spring to early summer.

Avoid mowing treated areas for at least 7 days following application of this product.

Safety Information:

Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying this product.

Do not allow people or pets enter treated areas until the spray has dried.

Special Considerations:

Cimarron Plus Range and Pasture Herbicide may cause injury to desirable trees and plants when contacting their roots, stems or foliage. These plants are most sensitive to this product during their development or growing stage.
