Celero Herbicide
Celero Herbicide is a selective post-emergent herbicide formulated as a water-dispersible granule. It can be used to control nutsedge and other weeds within established turfgrasses.
12/13/25
Celero Herbicide, manufactured by Valent Biosciences, is a selective post-emergent herbicide for the control of nutsedge and other weeds within established turfgrasses.
This product is absorbed by plant foliage and roots to target unwanted vegetation. Once absorbed, chickweed, burweed, and henbit will die within 7-14 days.
Celero Herbicide is a superior post-emergent herbicide that controls sedge and broadleaf weeds in cool-seasoned turf and warm-seasoned turf.
Tools Needed
You will need a pump sprayer or a professional spray rig for larger jobs.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Celero Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the length and width of the treatment area in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). Celero spot treatments should be done at a rate of 0.33 oz per 1000 square feet in a gallon of water. If you have a 5,000-square-foot area to be treated, you would need 1.66 oz of Celero mixed with 5 gallons of water.
- Step 2: Since Celero is a WDG, it is important to add the chemical to water. To mix, you will put water in your sprayer, then add the appropriate amount of chemicals and shake it up.
- Step 3: Apply the Celero mixture to the target treatment areas, spraying until wet but not to the point of runoff. For uniform coverage, it is recommended to use a fan spray pattern.
Where to Use
Celero Herbicide can be applied to established residential and commercial turfgrass to control nutsedge and selected broadleaf weeds. Apply to turfgrass growing in areas such as apartment complexes, golf courses, sod farms, roadsides, sports fields, campgrounds, office complexes, parks, parking areas, recreational sites, schools, residential lawns, and commercial areas. When applied as directed, the following established turfgrass species tolerate this product.
When to Use
Because this product is a post-emergent herbicide, it should be applied when you have noticed weed growth on your property. Make sure to apply when the temperature is between 65 degrees Fahrenheit to 90 degrees Fahrenheit when it is not too windy (when wind speeds are between 2 to 10 mph).
Safety Information
Celero Herbicide is safe for pets and children when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of the treated area until the spray has dried.

Celero has been discontinued by the manufacturer. We suggest buying Sedgehammer Nutsedge Killer as an appropriate alternative.
