Capstone Specialty Herbicide
Capstone Specialty Herbicide
Capstone Specialty Herbicide is a superior dual mode-of-action herbicide that provides a fast knockdown of broadleaf weeds and woody plants in rangelands, permanent grass pastures, and non-croplands.
Capstone Specialty Herbicide, manufactured by DOW/CORTEVA, is a easy to use nonester formulation herbicide that provides increased efficiency on a broader spectrum of weeds and small woody plants.
Features the active ingredient aminopyralid 2.22% and triclopyr 16.22%, which work together to control both pre-emergent and post-emergent stages of weeds like purple cudweed, curly dock, and clover.
Capstone Specialty Herbicide delivers a fast knockdown of weeds with a long-lasting residual control that's effective at multiple stages of weed and woody plant growth.
Tools Needed
Capstone Specialty Herbicide can be applied with a boomless spray system, spray rig, hand-held, or backpack sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Capstone Specialty Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). General weed control will use 4-6 pints of Capstone Specialty Herbicide per 10 gallons of water per acre. Refer the label for specific rates.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, add measured amount of Capstone Specialty Herbicide, then pour in the remaining half of water. Agitate the tank until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Ensure even coverage with Capstone Specialty Herbicide until wet, but not the point of runoff.
Where to Use
Capstone Specialty Herbicide can be used for rangeland, permanent grass pastures (including grasses grown for hay*), Conservation Reserve Program (CRP), forests, non-cropland areas (for example airports, barrow ditches, communication transmission lines, electrical power and utility rights-of-way, fencerows, gravel pits, industrial sites, military sites, mining and drilling areas, oil and gas pads, non-irrigation ditch banks, parking lots, petroleum tank farms, pipelines, roadsides, railroads, storage areas, dry storm water retention areas, substations, unimproved rough turf grasses), natural areas (open spaces) (for example, campgrounds, parks, prairie management, trailheads and trails, recreation areas, wildlife openings, and wildlife habitat and management areas), and grazed areas in and around these sites.
When to Use
Apply Capstone Specialty Herbicide before or after weeds appear.
Safety Information
Capstone Specialty Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of treated areas until 48 hours have passed after application.
Special Considerations
Do not use manure from animals that have grazed forage or eaten hay harvested from treated areas within the previous 3 days, in compost, mulch or mushroom spawn.
Do not plant a broadleaf crop in fields treated in the previous year with manure from animals that have grazed forage or hay harvested from Capstone-treated areas until an adequately sensitive field bioassay is conducted to determine that the Capstone residues in the soil is at a level that is not injurious to the crop to be planted.
