JT Eaton Answer Boric Acid Dust
10/05/25
JT Eaton Answer Boric Acid Dust, manufactured by JT Eaton, controls insects that hide in hard-to-reach places. It is made with the active ingredient orthoboric acid.
When targeted insects ingest it, it poisons their stomach, causing them to lose their appetites, and eventually, they die via dehydration.
It is an excellent product for treating cracks and crevices in kitchens and bathrooms where insects hide. As long as Answer Boric Acid Dust is applied to dry areas without being disturbed, the residual effects can last for several months.
Tools Needed
To apply JT Eaton Answer Boric Acid Dust, dusting application equipment can puff the insecticide dust further into wall voids, cracks, and crevice areas. A mop, bucket, and gloves may also be required when making mop applications.
How to Use
- Step 1: For general applications made with a handheld duster, begin by determining how much Answer Boric Acid Dust you need by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply the area length times the width (length x width - square footage). The use rate for Boric is 1 lb. per 1,000 sq. ft. If you needed to apply the product to a 2,000 sq. ft. area, you would need 2 lb. of product in a duster. For mop applications, use 1 cup of Boric Acid Dust per gallon of rinse water. Apply to floor areas only. Any visible powder after mop application must be brushed into cracks and crevices or removed.
- Step 2: Open the cap on the top of the bottle. Boric can be used as an applicator, or a handheld bulb duster can be used. If the bottle is being used, squeeze the bottle to puff the dust out while the tip is pointing or inserted into the areas needing treatment.
- Step 3: If a handheld bulb duster is being used, turn it upside down, remove the cap, and fill the compartment halfway with dust. Place the cap back on, turn the right side up, and insert the tip of the duster into areas needing treatment while squeezing the bulb to puff the dust.
- Step 4: The dust will last for several months if not disturbed. Applications can be made as needed.
Where to Use
JT Eaton Answer Boric Acid Dust can be applied to indoor areas of residential, commercial, or industrial building structures. It is ideal for use in homes, hospitals, restaurants, condominiums, apartments, grocery stores, institutional and commercial buildings, schools, cafeterias, warehouses, storage areas, food processing plants, mobile homes, boats, military bases, theaters, camps, and nursing homes.
Answer Boric Acid Dust is to be applied in wall voids, cracks, crevices around windows, plumbing voids, baseboards, around cabinets, behind kick plates below cabinets, under appliances, attics, and other areas where targeted insects hide. Answer Boric Acid Dust cannot be applied to surfaces where food is handled.
For outdoor use, it must be applied to areas where it cannot get wet, such as plumbing voids, weep holes, and other entrances around the perimeter of the building structure.
When to Use
This product can be used as a preventative treatment and can also be applied when insects are confirmed or suspected. It is ideal for pre-construction use applied to areas that may be hard to reach after building construction is complete.
