Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP

Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP, manufactured by Bonide, is a water-soluble insecticide package that selectively controls mosquito larvae and developing mosquitos before they hatch and become breeding adults in standing water.

This microbial insecticide comes in the form of a water-soluble package that dissolves readily in water to release granules coated with active ingredient Bti 1.7%. This active ingredient works to destroy the cellular lining of the insects digestive tract.

Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP is a fast-acting selective insecticide that can be used in stagnant, polluted, or algae-covered water without harming fish, amphibians, or other beneficial aquatic organisms.

It comes ready to use, but you will need the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves when handling this product.

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP to use by calculating the square footage of the standing water surface. You will need to measure the length and width of the water site in feet and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For clear water containing little algae use 1 pouch of Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP per 50 sq. ft. of water surface or 2 pouches per 100 sq. ft. Heavy infestations applications in clear water use 2 pouches of product per 50 sq. ft. or 3 pouches per 100 sq. ft. For polluted water with light infestation apply 2 pouches of product per 50 sq. ft. or 3 pouches per 100 sq. ft. Polluted water with heavy infestations will use 3 pouches of product per 50 sq. ft. or 4 pouches per 100 sq. ft.
• Step 2: Drop the appropriate amount of Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP while still in its packaging into the water.
• Step 3: Once applied, the package should dissolve within several minutes. Retreat as needed every 7 to 14 days to control mosquito populations.

Where to Use

Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP is designed to control mosquito larvae in standing water in irrigation or drainage ditches, pastures, livestock watering troughs/ponds/tanks, lawns, woodland pools, snow melt pools, tidal water, salt marsh, catch basins, storm water retention basins, water gardens, flower pots, rain barrels, roof gutters, bird baths, tree holes, unused swimming pools or spas, discarded automobile tires, and any other location around homes or other buildings where water can collect and form a breeding ground for mosquitoes and remain for extended periods.

When to Use

Use Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP when mosquito activity is beginning, typically this will be during the spring and summer months, or after rainfalls.

This product cannot be used in water reservoirs or drinking water receptacles, when the water is meant for human consumption or New York State waters.

Special Considerations

To apply this product to small specific areas such as bird baths or flower pots, you will need to open the water soluble package surrounding the Bonide Mosquito Beater WSP granules onto the treated areas at the rate of 1/4 tsp. per 1 to 12.50 sq. ft. For 12.50 to 25 sq. ft. use 1/2 tsp. of product. For 25 to 37.50 sq. ft. use 3/4 tsp. of product.
