Bird Flite Bird Control Spikes
Bird Flite Bird Control Spikes are spikes that deter birds from an area where they gather—sold in one-foot lengths and three-width configurations.
Bird Flite Bird Control Spikes, manufactured by Bird Barrier, deter birds and helps prevent them from gathering or nesting where they are not wanted and inflict destructive damage through their droppings and activities.
Bird-Flite spikes are blunted to prevent bird injury, so they're a great humane option for keeping birds away. The spikes are easy to install and durable. If you want an option to repel birds from your home or building, Bird-Flite spikes are a great choice.
Plastic - 12 Inch Spike.
Tools Needed
To use Bird Flite Spikes, you will need some adhesive to stick them to a ledge or wherever you want to place them so they stay secure. You could use glue or screws. Bird Barrier Bond is included in spike kits.
How to Use
- Step 1: Bird Flite Bird Control Spikes can be glued or screwed to the ledge. If screwing, we recommend three screws per foot. However, using Bird Barrier Bond is the preferred technique; it is far faster and more secure, as the entire strip is fastened securely to the ledge.
- Step 2: The one-foot section of Bird-Flite should receive four to five equally spaced marble-sized dabs. You do not want to run a continuous bead as you will create a water barrier. Apply the four to five dabs per foot. Then, place the strip in the correct position and press firmly to the ledge. You want the Bond to come out the sides and squirt up through the screw holes.
- Step 3: Alternatively, Bird-Flite can be installed using small self-tapping screws. We recommend two to three screws per foot, not one screw per hole. If using a drill motor, you should obtain a long 1/4" magnetic nut driver (at least 5" long). Make sure you don't keep the drill motor running when the screw seats down on the plastic, or you will strip out the hole or break the Bird-Flite base.
Where to Use
Use Bird-Flite spikes wherever you have problems with pigeons and other birds. Common areas for placement include ledges, parapets, signs, beams, pipes, chimneys, cutouts, security cameras, lights, etc.
When to Use
Use Bird-Flite spikes when pigeons or other bird species gather in an area where they are not wanted and cause damage.
Safety Information
Bird Flite Bird Control Spikes are safe to use around children and pets when installed according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when using this product.
The spikes are not sharp enough to injure a bird that comes close, but they will make the bird uncomfortable, so it will not perch in the area where they are installed.
Special Considerations
Bird-Flite comes in 1-foot sections and is flexible, UV-stabilized polycarbonate.
