Tools Needed

For most installations, a high-quality outdoor adhesive and a caulking gun make application fast and clean, especially on metal, stone, or other smooth surfaces.

If a more permanent or mechanical attachment is preferred, a drill or screwdriver along with screws or anchors can be used.

How to Use

• Step 1: Remove all nesting materials, droppings, and dirt before installing spikes. Bird droppings are acidic and can damage surfaces. Plus, cleaning ensures your adhesive or screws will hold better.
• Step 2: Measure the length of the area and cut the spike strips to fit if necessary. If using adhesive, apply outdoor adhesive along the base of the spike strip, then firmly press it onto the surface, making sure there are no gaps between strips. For a more permanent installation, align the pre-drilled holes and secure the spikes with screws or anchors using a drill or screwdriver.
• Step 3: Lay sections end-to-end with no more than a 1/2-inch gap. Even small spaces can give determined birds an opening.
• Step 4: Check periodically to ensure the spikes remain secure. Remove any leaves or other debris that gather around or between the spikes.
