Barricade 65WG Herbicide
Barricade 65WG Herbicide is a flexible, long-lasting, pre-emergent water-dispersable granule herbicide that prevents more than 30 weeds from germinating in established turf and ornamentals.
04/19/26
Barricade 65WG Herbicide, manufactured by Syngenta, is a high-strength prodiamine-powered herbicide that delivers excellent residual control with low application rates for grassy and broadleaf weeds.
This water-dispersable granule herbicide offers season-long turf protection against a broad spectrum of weeds such as crabgrass, pigweed, and itchweed. One application provides several months of weed suppression, reducing the need for repeat treatments.
Barricade 65WG Herbicide allows turfgrass to thrive by eliminating early-season competition from weeds for 3 to 8 months. Its highly concentrated 65% prodiamine formulation means fewer applications, extended control, and excellent return on investment.
Tools Needed
It can be applied with a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Barricade 65WG Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). Depending on the turf, apply 0.185 to 0.83 oz. of Barricade 65WG Herbicide per 0.5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For ornamentals, use 0.37 oz. of product per 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and agitate the solution until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Broadcast or directly spray the solution until the area is thoroughly treated. After application, irrigate the treated area with 1/2 inch of water.
Where to Use
Barricade 65WG Herbicide can be used for nursery, landscapes, non-crop land areas, golf courses (excluding putting greens), lawns, and sod nurseries.
Do not apply to areas where dichondra, colonial bentgrass, velvet bentgrass, or annual bluegrass (Poa annua) are desirable species.
When to Use
Apply before weeds are present and when plants are well-established.
Injury to desirable seedlings is likely if this product is applied before the secondary roots of seedlings are in the second inch of soil (not thatch plus soil). To reduce the potential to injure overseeded turf, wait 60 days after seeding or until after the second mowing, whichever is longer, before applying Barricade 65WG.
Safety Information
Barricade 65WG Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of the treated area for at least 24 hours.
Special Considerations
In the spring when buds are rapidly growing and expanding, over-the-top application of Barricade 65WG may temporarily injure new growth of desirable plants. To reduce the possibility of injury at this time, wait to apply Barricade 65WG over the top of newly emerged vegetation until it has hardened off, unless your experience indicates that the ornamental plant will not be injured by the over-the-top application.
