BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate
BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate
BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate, manufactured by Proserve, is a powerful non-selective herbicide that controls numerous weeds and grasses that it comes into contact with it in a single treatment.
Due to its dry ready-to-use granule formulation it eliminates the risk of drift or over-application. Simply water the granules in for instant control of unwanted vegetation including broadleaf and perennial weeds. The powerful combination of 2 active ingredients, Sodium Metaborate 48.5%, and Sodium Chlorate 30% provides instant knockdown and long-lasting residual control in non-crop areas.
BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate delivers season-long bare ground vegetation control and will prevent new growth in the future. A single treatment provides 6 to 9 months of residual control of hard to control weeds and new seedlings.
Tools Needed
To use BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate you will need a hand or push operated spreader and a water hose to wet the granules after application.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate you will need by calculating the square footage of the area to be treated. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). The application rate for general weed control is 2 lbs. of BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate per 100 sq. ft.. For perennial weed control, use 4 lbs. of product per 100 sq. ft. For use as "prepaving" residual herbicide under asphalt paving then apply 2-4 lbs of product per 100 sq. ft. as a dry application. If you wish to use a spray application of this product, dissolve 1-2 lbs. of product per gallon of water and apply 11/2-2 gallons per 100 sq. ft. Where surfacing has already been cracked by emergent vegetation, inject BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate in a solution of 2 lbs. per gallon of water.
- Step 2: Load the proper amount of BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate into spreader or sprayer of your choice, calibrated at the right setting for uniform spread. For spray applications, fill the sprayer with half the amount of water required, add measured amount of product, then pour remaining half of water. Let it dissolve then shake until well-mixed.
- Step 3: Apply BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate uniformly over the desired areas and then water in BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate immediately after application for best results. Do not apply BareSpot near the roots of desired vegetation.
Where to Use
BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate is a great product for controlling weeds and grasses in and around the following areas: Gravel driveways, sidewalks, walkways, fence lines, out builds & sheds. You can also apply around or near Bleachers, Bridge abutments, Buildings, Bunkers, Buried cable closures, Catwalks, Cemeteries, Compressor stations, Cooling towers, Crossconnect boxes, Electrical generators, Fence lines, Fire hydrants, plugs or wall, Fuel tanks, Generating plants, Guardrails, Helo pads, Highway & street markers, Loading stations, Lumber yards, Microwave towers, Oil & Gas pipelines, Oil refineries, Parking lots, Pump decks, Runway lights, Runways, Sign posts, Storage & equipment yards, Utility poles & substations, Vacant lots, Valvers & manifolds, Waste lagoons.
When to Use
Use BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate whenever you'd like bareground control over an area and want all vegetation gone. Weeds and grasses are easier to kill when they are young and growing rapidly.
Safety Information
BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate is safe to use around children and pets when used according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Keep people and pets off treated areas after treatment until they have completely dried.
Special Considerations
BareSpot Monobor-Chlorate can be applied by hand directly from the container or with any spreader suitable for granular fertilizers. Because the pellets are visible, this eliminates "skips" and "misses". There is no guesswork involved. Application under asphalt may only be applied with handheld equipment such as rotary spreader and are limited to 8,000 square feet per site

Q:Is this effective against Japanese Knotweed? Or would you recommend something else?3/20/18A:Barespot will kill everything and meant to be used in an area that you want no vegetation to grow. Herbicides with an active ingredient of glyphosate (Rodeo, Aquamaster, Gly Star, Round-up among others), triclopyr (Garlon 3a and many “shrub-killers”), 2,4-D, picloram (Tordon) and Imazapyr (Arsenal) have shown to be variably effective in controlling knotweed either separately or in combinations. https://www.solutionsstores.com/triclopyr-4-brush-killer-garlon-4 https://www.invasive.org/gist/moredocs/polspp01.pdf
