Avesta CS, manufactured by Amvac, is a superior microencapsulated insecticide that uses a unique proprietary blend of the active ingredient lambda-cyhalothrin against pests like ants or cockroaches.

As a microencapulated product, it will delay the active ingredient, resulting in a longer residual control over a variety of pests such as fleas. Once applied, this pyrethroid insecticide delivers a quick kill without leaving behind any offensive odors making it ideal for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Avesta CS effectively kills pests on lawns and ornamentals by affecting their sodium channel caused from the sodium ion influx delay. This action results in an electrical imbalance and excessive firing of the neurons, leading to paralysis and death of the insect in 2 to 3 days.

Tools Needed

To use Avesta CS, you will need to apply it with a hand or power application equipment like a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer.

It may also be used with a paintbrush or other porous applicator attached to a handle as a general surface treatment.

How to Use

Spot Application on Lawn

  • Step 1: Determine how much Avesta CS to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). Apply 0.8 fl. oz. of Avesta CS per 1-5 gallon of water per 1600 sq. ft. for perimeter barrier applications. For ornamental plants, use 1.5 to 5 fl. oz. of product per 100 gallons of water. To apply on lawns, use 3.4 to 7 ml of product per 1,000 sq. ft. or 10 fl. oz. of product per acre. For general spot treatments on lawn, apply 0.5 fl. oz. of product per 1-2.5 gallons of water. Do not apply more than 0.36 lbs. of the a.i. (52.4 fl. oz. of concentrate) per acre per year.
  • Step 2: Fill your selected sprayer with half the amount of water, add the measured amount of Avesta CS, then pour the remaining half of water into the spray tank. Secure the lid and shake until the solution is fully diluted.
  • Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of foliage leaves until wet with Avesta CS solution, but not to the point of runoff. Lightly irrigate after application with up to 1/2 inches of water after application to control thatch-inhibiting pest and subsurface insects. For surface insect control, you will need to delay watering or mowing 12-24 hours after application. For perimeter applications, apply a continuous band of mixed insecticide up to a 10 ft. wide around the structure and upwards along the foundation to 3 ft. and around windows, doors, and roof overhangs as a coarse spray. If necessary, reapply this product every 7 days for lawn, turfgrass, and ornamental pests and every 21 days for perimeter and indoor control. During application, do not allow pesticide to enter or runoff into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters or surface waters.
