Arena 50 WDG Insecticide is manufactured by Valent and is a broad-spectrum insecticide that comes in a water-dispersible granule for control of a wide  range of insects which commonly infest turfgrass, ornamental plants, interior plantscapes, and non-bearing fruit and nut trees (in landscapes). When applied as directed, Arena 50 WDG Insecticide provides excellent and long residual insect control. Arena 50 can be applied by foliar application, soil injection, drenches, or broadcast spray. We recommend using it to treat for ants, aphids, Japanese Beetles, Sod Webworms and other plant damaging pests. 

Tools Needed

To use Arena 50 WDG,  you will need a handpump sprayer or backpack sprayer. For large scale applications, a professional pesticide spraying rig is necessary. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Before creating your solution, identify the method of application you want to use and the size of the area you wish to treat. This will determine the amount of Arena 50 WDG you will need to mix. The application rate varies on the type of application you will be using. Calculate the areas square footage by measuring and multiplying length x width. To determine acreage, take the square footage and divide by 43,560.  Foliar applications of Arena WDG have an application rate of 0.63 to 3 fluid ounces per 100 gallons of water per acre. For small volume turfgrass applications, the mixing rate is between 0.14 to 0.29 oz. per 1,000 sq. ft. in 1 to 5 gallons of water.
• Step 2: After calculating the amount of product you will need, you can begin creating a solution. Fill your spray tank halfway with water. Add the necessary amount of Arena 50 WDG, fill the spray tank with the remaining amount of water, then close the lid and shake well to agitate.
• Step 3: For foliar application, use a coarse spray nozzle for accurate and uniform spraying. You want to spray until wet, but not to the point of runoff. The application can be made by foliar application or soil applications including soil injection, drenches, and broadcast sprays. For optimum control, make applications prior to anticipated pest infestation. For soil drench, mix your required amount of Arena 50 WDG in water and pull back mulch before drenching the soil around the base of the shrub or tree. For soil injection, mix your required amount of Arena 50 WDG and make at least four injections per shrub or tree using a low-pressure applicator.

Where to Use

Arena 50 WDG Insecticide is for use on ornamental plants in commercial and residential landscapes, as well as interior plant-scapes. It can also be applied to turfgrass grown in industrial, commercial and residential landscapes including airports, athletic fields, cemeteries, commercial sod farms, golf courses, home lawns, parks, and playgrounds.

When to Use

Use Arena 50 WDG when you are noticing high pest activity on your property. Apply Arena 50 WDG Insecticide when threshold populations are observed. Do not wait until population beyond threshold has been established. It is best to apply Arena 50 WDG on a calm-weathered day with little to no wind.

Safety Information

Arena 50 WDG is safe to use when applied according to label directions. Please wear the necessary PPE when mixing and applying Arena 50 WDG (safety gloves, protective eyewear, safety mask and long-sleeved clothing). Do not apply the product in or near bodies of water, or areas where bees are most active. Do not allow children and pets to enter treatment area until sprays have dried.

Special Considerations

When applying Arena 50 WDG to turfgrass, do not use more than 12.8 fluid ounces of Arena 50 WDG per acre per year. Do not apply more than 0.4 pounds of the active ingredient clothianidin per acre per year for turf, landscape, ornamentals and non-bearing fruits and nuts. Do not apply Arena 50 WDG by air.
