Aquashade Aquatic Herbicide
Aquashade Aquatic Herbicide is an easy-to-use pond dye that helps control submerged aquatic weeds and algae in ponds and other infested water bodies while giving water a crisp, clear, aqua-blue color.
10/05/25
Aquashade Aquatic Herbicide, manufactured by Arch Chemicals, is a pond dye and aquatic weed treatment.
The product is a blend of blue and yellow dyes that work together to screen or shade portions of the sunlight spectrum (red-orange and blue-violet) known to promote underwater weed and algae growth.
Pour the correct amount of Aquashade Aquatic Herbicide directly into the water at several locations and let the product do the rest. Your pond or water body will eventually look clean, clear, and beautiful.
Tools Needed
When applying this product to your water body, you only need a pair of safety gloves. Although it can be poured directly from the container, using a pouring device, such as a bucket or even a sprayer, is recommended.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the size and depth of the body of water to determine how much Aquashade you need. To determine acre-feet volume, measure the length, width, and depth of the waterbody, and then divide by 43,560 (length x width x depth / 43,560 = acre-feet). Aquashade Aquatic Herbicide can be applied at various rates: 20 fl. oz., 32 fl. oz., 60 fl. oz., or 80 fl. oz. per acre-foot of water body volume.
- Step 2: Pour the product over the edge directly into the body of water. The water's natural movement will disperse the dye in several hours.
- Step 3: Additional applications will be needed at 1 to 4-week intervals as sunlight breaks down dyes.
Where to Use
Aquashade Aquatic Herbicide can be used in lakes, ponds, water fountains, and lagoons.
When to Use
For best results, use before or at the beginning of spring months to prevent algae and some unwanted underwater plant life from growing.
Safety Information
Aquashade Aquatic Herbicide is safe to use around people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when applying this product.
Once the dye is completely dispersed, irrigating, fishing, water sports, and other activities can continue.
Special Considerations
Aquashade may stain clothes and skin. Wear suitable protective clothing when applying Aquashade.
