Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide
Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide is a fast-acting, non-selective herbicide that provides effective control of aquatic weeds, woody brush, and trees in fresh and brackish water bodies, including lakes, ponds, rivers, canals, and drainage ditches.
04/10/26
Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide, manufactured by Agrisel, is an excellent post-emergent herbicide with no soil residual that controls a broad spectrum of weeds, brush, and trees in aquatic settings, as well as in rights-of-way through grazed pastures, rangelands, and forestry sites.
This non-selective, fast-acting contact herbicide is specially formulated with glyphosate 53.8%. When applied correctly, Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide works by disrupting the photosynthesis process in green plant tissue. It penetrates the leaf cuticle and cell walls, killing the plant from the top down. Because it’s a contact herbicide, it doesn’t move through the entire plant structure it acts quickly on the tissue it touches.
Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide is a highly concentrated formulation that ensures maximum effectiveness per application. This means you can treat more water with less product, saving you time and money in the long run. One of the biggest advantages of this product is its speed. You’ll often see visible results within 24 to 48 hours after application. That’s especially important when you need quick relief from overgrown weeds, brush, and trees.
Tools Needed
You will need a backpack sprayer, a handheld pump sprayer, a knapsack sprayer, or a spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For spot applications with a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer, apply a 4 to 8 percent solution of this product. For a 4% solution, mix 5.0 oz. of Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide with 1 gallon of water. For an 8% solution, add 10.0 oz. of product with 1 gallon of water. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of the water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is well-mixed.
- Step 3: To ensure adequate spray coverage, spray both sides of large or tall woody brush and trees, when foliage is thick and dense, or where there are multiple sprouts. If a straight stream nozzle is used, start the application at the top of the targeted vegetation and spray from top to bottom in a lateral zig-zag motion. For flat-fan and cone nozzles and with hand-directed mist blowers, mist the application over the foliage of the targeted vegetation. To ensure adequate spray coverage, spray both sides of large or tall woody brush and trees when foliage is thick and dense, or where there are multiple sprouts. Do not spray weed foliage to the point of runoff.
Where to Use
Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide can be used in all bodies of fresh and brackish water, which may be flowing, non-flowing, or transient. This includes lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, estuaries, rice levees, seeps, irrigation and drainage ditches, canals, reservoirs, and wastewater treatment facilities.
Use this product to treat undesirable vegetation in rights-of-way that pass through pastures, rangeland, and forestry sites that are being grazed.
Do not spray open bodies of water where woody brush, trees, and herbaceous weeds do not exist.
When to Use
Apply when weeds, brush, and trees are present and actively growing or well-established. Avoid outdoor applications when rainfall is expected within 6 hours after treatment.
Safety Information
Aqua-Sel 53.8% Aquatic Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
