Aqua Black Select, manufactured by Prime Source LLC, is a pond dye that comes in water soluble granule form for an improved appearance in controlled water aquascapes such as ponds.
Once applied this dye creates a dark-mirror like surface to limit sunlight penetration which helps to lessen algae growth. Adding this product to your water source not only enhances its aesthetic appeal, but also improves water clarity without the aid of toxic chemicals.
Aqua Black Select ease of use can further be seen with its ability to be poured along the shore line or as a spot treatment throughout the water.

Aqua Black Select can be applied directly from product container or 5 gallon water bucket.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Aqua Black Select to use by measuring the pond or water body's length and width in feet. Then use the following formula length X width X average depth (43,560 ft.) to determine the application rate. Keep in mind that acre foot = 325,851 gallons of water. If you do not wish to use this formula then you may use the following application rates. Use 1 gallon of Aqua Black Select per 1 acre of water average depth approximately 4 feet. For smaller water features with approximately 8500 gallons of water use 1 oz. of Aqua Black Select.
- Step 2: Pour the appropriate amount of Aqua Black Select from its container or a bucket in several areas along the shoreline and then allow time for the product to disperse by windblown currents.
- Step 3: Reapply Aqua Black Select every 2 to 4 weeks to maintain quality of the reflective appearance.
Where to Use
Aqua Black Select can be safely used in confined water systems like lakes, ponds and other controlled source aquascapes.
Do not use in rivers or streams.
When to Use
Use Aqua Black Select on murky or muddy water bodies or to simply enhance appearance of controlled water body. Apply prior to algae growth or at beginning stages.
