Antares Pro Herbicide
Antares Pro Herbicide is a selective herbicide that provides rapid, visible control of broadleaf weeds, sedges, and grassy weeds in various cool-seasoned and warm-seasoned turfgrass sites.
09/07/25
Antares Pro Herbicide, manufactured by Helena Chemicals, is a powerful soil-applied herbicide that provides quick and easy control over 60 types of broadleaf weeds, sedges, and grassy weeds in turf during its pre-emergent and post-emergent stages.
The primary active ingredient in this herbicide is sulfentrazone 39.6%, which disrupts weed growth quickly by interfering with the production of chlorophyll and cell membranes, causing treated weeds to bleach and die rapidly. Antares Pro Herbicide offers residual weed control for weeks after application, helping prevent new weed seeds from sprouting and keeping turf cleaner longer.
Antares Pro Herbicide offers residential, institutional, and commercial turf owners a reliable, fast-acting, and versatile herbicide that solves multiple weed problems across diverse environments. Dual-action control provided by this selective herbicide saves time and money by tackling weeds before and after they emerge.
Tools Needed
A spray rig or helicopter will be needed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Antares Pro Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For cool-seasoned turf, apply 4 to 8 oz. of Antares Pro Herbicide per 10 gallons of water per acre. For warm-seasoned turf, use 8 to 12 oz. of product per 10 gallons of water per acre. Do not apply more than 12 oz. of product per acre per 12 month period. The 12 month period starts at the point of the first application.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of product, then add the proper amount of herbicide, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is well-mixed.
- Step 3: Use medium to coarse droplet sizes to minimize drift. Broadcast the spray evenly across the treatment area, but do not spray to the point of runoff. Allow 35 days between each application if retreatment is needed.
Where to Use
Antares Pro Herbicide can be used on residential and institutional lawns, athletic fields, golf course fairways and roughs, commercial sod farms, railroads, highways, roadsides, pipeline and utility rights of way, industrial areas, fence rows and other listed non-crop sites.
When to Use
Apply early spring or fall, before weed seeds germinate for pre-emergent control.
For post-emergent control, apply when weeds are actively growing and small (pre tiller stage).
Safety Information
Antares Pro Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter the treatment area until the spray has dried.
Special Considerations
For Non-Crop use, applications can be made by helicopter to railroad rights-of-way only.
