Altosid Liquid Larvicide
Altosid Liquid Larvicide
Altosid Liquid Larvicide, manufactured by Zoecon, is a superior insect growth regulator and liquid larvicide that features a microencapsulated formulation that provides longer and stronger residual control against adult mosquitoes and their larvae.
Designed with the active ingredient (S)-Methoprene 5%, this product will work to prevent the mosquitos larvae within its 2nd, 3rd, or 4th stage from turning into an adult. Once these larvae stages have been treated they will be continue to the pupal stage then die.
Altosid Liquid Larvicide is a ready to use liquid formulated product that can be used to eliminate mosquitoes that may transmit West Nile virus, Zika, chikungunya, and dengue.
Tools Needed
Altoside Liquid Larvicide may be applied by aircraft to terrestrial locations, ground application equipment, equipment capable of applying a fine mist or ULV, backpack sprayer, or handheld pump sprayer. We recommend making applications through ULV spray equipment to cover a broader range of terrain.
Do not apply this product through any irrigation system unless the supplemental labeling on chemigation is followed.
How to Use
- Step 1: Examine your yard and observe areas that has past water accumulation activity or falls under the approved sites to treat.
- Step 2: Determine how much Altosid Liquid Larvacidie to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To find this, measure the treatment sites length and width in feet and multiply them together (length X width = square footage). To find acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 = acre) For control of mosquito larvae using ULV application equipment apply at the rate of 3 to 4 oz. of Altosid Liquid Larvicide per acre to water holding containers and other small bodies of water. For aerial application, apply at the rate of 3 to 4 fl. oz. of product per acre diluted with water at a minimum of 1:1 mix ratio with water. Do not mix with oil and use clean equipment.
- Step 3: Partially fill the selected sprayer with half the amount of water, then add the measured amount of Altosid Liquid Larvicide, and pour in the remaining half of water. Close the sprayer lid and gently shake to mix the product solution.
- Step 4: Apply the Altosid Liquid Larvicide around and to terrestrial locations by ground or from the air. Reapply when breeding sites become reinfested or when adult population has increased.
Where to Use
Altosid Liquid Larvicide can be applied to irrigated croplands (vineyards, rice fields including wild rice, date palm orchards, fruit and nut orchards, berry fields, and bogs) after flooding. Other locations include terrestrial locations, tires and tire piles, potted plants, tree holes, open containers, gutters, garbage bins, cans, birdbaths, rain barrels, and other water-holding containers, small bodies of water, freshwater swamps and marshes, salt marshes, woodland pools and meadows, dredging spoil sites, drainage areas, waste treatment and settling ponds, ditches and other natural and manmade depressions.
When to Use
Use Altosid Liquid Larvicide after periods of flooding or rainfall. Typically, this will be during the summer or fall. Apply on calm warm days when wind speeds are below 10 mph and early in the morning as this is when pest activity is the highest.
