Alamo Propiconazole Fungicide, manufactured by Syngenta, is an outstanding systemic fungicide that quickly addresses some of the most devasting tree diseases, such as oak wilt, dutch elm disease, leaf disease, and more, with one convenient formula.

Its active ingredient, propiconazole, effectively combats pathogens responsible for ailments such as sycamore anthracnose and laurel wilt. As a systemic fungicide, this fungicide is absorbed by the tree and transported through its vascular system. This ensures comprehensive protection, reaching areas that surface fungicide treatments might miss.

Alamo Propiconazole Fungicide is a premier systemic fungicide that easily manages destructive tree diseases and ensures comprehensive protection and treatment.

Tools Needed

You will need a type of injection tool.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine the diameter of your tree trunk at diameter breast height (DBH). To do this, begin by measuring 4.5 feet above the ground level. Hold the ruler or tape measurer against the tree, then wrap it around the middle of the tree at the DBH, and record your findings. Dilute 10 ml of Alamo in up to 1 liter of water per inch DBH. For very high disease pressure, 20 ml of product per inch DBH may be used. For preventative and therapeutic treatments use 6-10 ml of product in up to 1 liter of water per inch DBH. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Fill your injection system as instructed in its manual. Add the proper amount of the product into the water and mix thoroughly. Ensure the solution is well-agitated before application.
  • Step 3: Drill holes through the bark, into sapwood using a clean sharp drill bit. Drill hole diameter must be adequate to allow insertion of injection tees and formation of air tight contact between active xylem and the delivery point of the injection tees. A drill hole diameter of 7/32 to 5/16 inch for elms, sycamores, and crabapples, and 5/16 inch for oaks is appropriate.
  • Step 4: Space injectors 3-6 inches apart around the base of the tree. Do not drill in the valleys between the flare roots or into cankered areas. Drill above these areas into the trunk, then continue again into sound sapwood on the flares. Insert Alamo mixture into the drilled holes the injection ports (“tees”) which are connected to plastic tubing.

Where to Use

Alamo Propiconazole Fungicide can be used for trees.

Do not apply Alamo to bearing or non-bearing Avocados. Do not use fruit from treated trees for food or feed purposes.

Do not apply Alamo to any plant in the Lauraceae family that produces fruit or other plant parts that may be used for human or animal consumption.

When to Use

Applications are most effective when trees are in full leaf and actively growing, typically in late spring to early summer. It can be used before or during active infestations.

Safety Information

Alamo Propiconazole Fungicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Special Considerations

Uninfected trees will absorb the full amount of Alamo and water solution within 2 hours when injected under pressure. Consider trees exhibiting specific symptoms and symptomless trees immediately adjacent to a diseased tree to be infected.

Symptomless trees separated by a primary plow line from diseased trees may be at less risk of infection. Infected trees will absorb the material more slowly due to the vascular plugging caused by the disease.

If the Alamo and water solution is not absorbed within 24 hours, the tree is considered high risk and has a poor chance of survival.
