Agrisel Diquat Herbicide
Agrisel Diquat Herbicide
Agrisel Diquat Herbicide, manufactured by Agrisel, is a non-selective and non-volatile herbicide used to control submerged weeds in aquatic areas, and emerged weeds within commercial greenhouses and dormant established turf grass.
The active ingredient diquat dibromide 37.3%, can control and eliminate subsurface and submerged weeds or grasses within bodies of waters such as ponds, lakes, and ditches. It is ideal to use on land as well for treating a variety of emerged broadleaf weeds on turf within farm, commercial, and residential areas. Due to its active ingredient, Agrisel Diquat Herbicide it eliminates weeds by absorbing into the unwanted vegetation, interfering with its ability to photosynthesize leading to a fast death within 2 days of application.
Tools Needed
To use Agrisel Diquat Herbicide you will need a handheld pump sprayer or backpack sprayer. For maximum results, a sprayer with an adjustable tip nozzle for effective applications would be best to use.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Agrisel Diquat Herbicide to use by calculating the size of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply length x width to get the total square footage to be treated for land (length X width = square footage). For aquatic applications, you will need to calculate the surface area by measuring length x width and the volume of your pond or water body by measuring (length x width x depth = surface area of pond). For pump sprayer or backpack sprayer spot applications on landscapes, use 0.75 oz of Agrisel Diquat Herbicide with a nonionic surfactant in 1 gallon of water to cover 1,000 sq. ft. For aquatic spot treatment sprays with a skid sprayer, use 2 quarts of Agrisel Diquat Herbicide plus a non-ionic surfactant per 100 gallons of water. Apply at a rate of 1 gallon per surface acre at a depth of 4 feet. Refer to the label for specific areas and foliage rates.
- Step 2: For pump sprayer or backpack sprayer applications, add 1/3 to 1/4 of the water to the spray tank, then add the correct amount of Agrisel Diquat Herbicide. When applying Agrisel Diquat Herbicide always mix with an approved surfactant such as Alligare 90 at a rate of 0.33 oz. per finished gallon. Add the rest of the water to the sprayer and mix well.
- Step 3: On a fan spray nozzle setting, apply the Agrisel Diquat Herbicide to the target areas until they are completely wet but making sure not to spray to the point of runoff. Additional applications may be needed if treating densely packed weeds or mats. If reapplication is needed, apply within 2 weeks after first application.
Where to Use
Agrisel Diquat Herbicide may be used to treat emerged or submerged weeds within land or water. On land it may be used in commercial greenhouses (beneath branches), fields grown and container stock, recreational, golf courses, commercial, residential, and public areas. May be applied in pre-plant or post-plant preemergence or postemergence in field grown ornamental nursery plantings.
For still water applications, it can be used in lakes, ponds, and drainage ditches where there is minimal or no outflow to public waters. For public waters, which may only be applied by a federal/state agency, or a licensed applicator authorized by the state or local government in public ponds, lakes, reservoirs, marshes, bayous, drainage ditches, canals, streams, rivers, and other slow-moving or quiescent bodies of water for control of aquatic weeds.
Agrisel Diquat Herbicide may also be applied as a preemergent in ornamental seeds crops not used for food or as a fiber crop. Other ornamental seed crops in can be used in is flowers and bulbs.
When to use
Agrisel Diquat Herbicide should be applied to actively growing, young weeds in the spring or summer time. For water applications, it would be best to apply when water temperatures are about 50°F or more.
Agrisel Diquat Herbicide may also be used during turf renovations (except commercial sod farms) and on dormant established turf grass emerging from winter dormancy such as Bermuda grass and zoysiagrass.
Spray on a warm, cool day when winds are low to reduce the chances of drift and when the turf is dry and free of water moisture.
Safety Information
Agrisel Diquat Herbicide is safe to use around children or pets when applied according to the label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing or applying Agrisel Diquat Herbicide.
Allow for 48 hours to pass before allowing children, pets, and other individuals to enter the treatment area and aquatic site.
Special Considerations
Before applying Agrisel Diquat Herbicide to any water sources contact your local federal or state public agencies for aby required permits or approval.
For best application, do not create muddy water by stirring the soil within the water for it may result in reduce control and lessen the application.

Keith's Pro Tips | "For best applications, we recommend applications with Agrisel Diquat Herbicide should not be made at a height greater than 10 ft. above the top of the target plants, unless a greater height is required for aircraft safety. Making applications at the lowest height that is safe reduces exposure of droplets to evaporation and wind." |
