Actinovate SP Fungicide, manufactured by Valent, is a non-phytotoxic fungicide that suppresses and controls fungi on a microscopic level within greenhouse and ornamental landscapes.

This water soluble powder effectively protects against a wide range of foliar and soil-borne diseases such as powdery mildew, downy mildew, and take-all-patch.

Actinovate SP Fungicide is a professional biofungicide that uses multiple modes of action to control diseases in all stages of ornamental production systems. While powerful on its own this product can easily be incorporated into a integrated pest management program for professional growers and home gardeners.

Tools Needed

To apply Actinovate SP Fungicide, you will need to use either a backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, hydroponics systems, injectors, flood benches or other drench watering systems.

How to Use

  • Determine how much Actinovate SP Fungicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For soil drench applications of greenhouse, nursery, and ornamental landscape use 4-6 oz. of Actinovate SP Fungicide in 100 gallons of water. Cuttings or bare rooted transplanted dip of greenhouse, nursery, and ornamental landscape will use 6-18 oz. of product in 50 gallons of water. For ornamental bulb crops, apply 6–18 oz of product per 100 lbs of bulbs as soak application or 6–12 oz. of product in 10–200 gallons of water per acre as a soil drench. To treat turf, use a rate of 18-54 oz. of product in 100-150 gallons of water per acre or 12-36 grams of product in 5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Spot applications on turf, apply 1.25 oz. of product in 5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For general maintenance on turf, apply 0.5 oz. of product in 5 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the label for specific application rates.
  • Step 2: To mix for backpack or handheld pump sprayers, fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, and add in the measured amount of Actinovate SP Fungicide. Then pour in the remaining half of water and shake until powder is dissolved. All other systems you will need to perform these same steps in a separate mixing container then add it to the system per its manual instructions.
  • Step 3: Adjust the sprayer to deliver a fine mist of Actinovate SP Fungicide to the top and bottom of leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. For dilute applications, soak the foliage in enough water to completely cover bulbs. Thoroughly cover all surfaces of bulbs with solution for 1 hour prior to planting. To perform soil drenches, you will need to spray the soil through irrigation or as an in-furrow seed spray.

Where to Use

Actinovate SP Fungicide can be used for greenhouse, nursery, residential lawns, commercial lawns, ornamental landscapes, golf courses (fairways, roughs, greens, tees), cemeteries, parks (and similar sites), athletic fields, sod farms, seed production, and other turf. This product can also be applied to outdoor ornamental plants used for landscaping around homes, buildings, golf courses, sports fields, and cemeteries.

When to Use

Actinovate SP Fungicide can be applied up to and including the day of harvest from early spring to fall. Apply early in the morning or late evening when soil temperatures are at or beneath 45 degrees Fahrenheit.
