2,4-D LV6 Herbicide, manufactured by Alligare, is an impressive weed killer that can control weeds and brush on a variety of sites.

It is used primarily by agriculture managers to control weeds around crops like corn and soybeans, but it can also be used on lawns, ranges, pastures, and more. The main active ingredient is 24-D, which has a solid reputation in selective weed control.

Tools Needed

This product can be applied with a handheld pump or backpack sprayer for general residential applications.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much 2,4-D LV6 Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet and multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, divide the square footage by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For established pastures and rangelands, apply 2/3 to 2.9 pints of 2,4-D LV6 per 10 to 30 gallons of water per acre. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Add half the amount of required water and surfactant if needed. Pour in the needed amount of 2,4-D LV6 Herbicide, and then add half of the remaining water. Close the tank lid and agitate until the solution is evenly mixed.
  • Step 3: Spray the target weed, getting even coverage and not overlapping spray bands to ensure grass health.

Where to Use

2,4-D LV6 Herbicide is for use in corn, small grains, soybeans (preplant), and other listed crops and in noncrop areas such as fencerows, lawns, pastures, rangelands, and rights-of-way.

When to Use

Apply when weeds are young and growing. Do not apply when temperatures are above 90 degrees Fahrenheit.

Safety Information

2,4-D LV6 Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.

Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until the sprays have completely dried.

Special Considerations

It is recommended that 2,4-D LV6 herbicide be mixed with a surfactant to enhance coverage and movement of the active ingredients into the plant.
