Tools Needed
To apply Up-Star SC Lawn and Nursery Insecticide/Miticide, you will need to use a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, hose-end sprayer, or spray rig.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Up-Star SC Lawn and Nursery Insecticide/Miticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the treatment area in feet then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For ornamentals in greenhouses, lath houses, shade houses and outdoor nurseries, including non-bearing fruit and nut trees, apply 0.125 to 1.0 fl. oz. of Up-Star SC Lawn and Nursery Insecticide/Miticide in 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. General applications on turf will use 0.5 to 1 fl. oz. of product in 2 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. or 20 fl. oz. of product in 100 gallons of water per acre. For perimeter applications around structures, apply 0.5 to 1.0 fl. oz. of product in 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill the spray tank with half the amount of water, then add the measured amount of Up-Star SC Lawn and Nursery Insecticide/Miticide, and lastly pour in the remaining half of water. Close the tank lid and shake until it is dissolved in water.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of foliage leaves, trunks, stems, and twigs with Up-Star SC Lawn and Nursery Insecticide/Miticide until wet, but not to the point of runoff. To make perimeter applications around structures, spray 3 feet up and 6-10 feet wide on the adjacent ground. For turf, be sure to spray 2 feet above it. Depending on the pest you are trying to control, you can water treated areas immediately after application wtih 0.5 inches of water or delay watering and mowing for the next 24 hours after application. A second application, five to seven days after the first, may be necessary to achieve pest control. Reapplications to greenhouses must be at intervals of 30 days or longer.
Where to Use
Up-Star SC Lawn and Nursery Insecticide/Miticide can be used on ornamentals, trees, shrubs, foliage plants, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, and flowers in greenhouses and outdoor nurseries, and interiorscapes including hotels, shopping malls, office buildings, etc., and outdoor plantscapes such as around residential dwellings, parks, institutional, public, commercial and industrial buildings, recreational, athletic fields, home lawns, golf courses and sod farms.
When to Use
Use Up-Star SC Lawn and Nursery Insecticide/Miticide when pest activity begins to occur or when they are overwintering in treated sites for preventative measures. Be sure to spray on days with calm weather and when rain is not predicted for the 24 hours after application for outdoor applications.
Do not apply for surface feeding pests if rain is expected within 12 hours (or whatever time is necessary for the spray to dry).
