Turflon Ester Herbicide is a post-emergent herbicide that controls annual and perennial grasses and broadleaf weeds. This product is intended to control weeds and grasses that have already emerged or are established.
09/25/25
Turflon Ester, manufactured by Monterey, is a triclopyr-based herbicide that controls post-emergent broadleaf weeds and grasses.
This product controls grasses and weeds that have emerged or are established, not as a pre-emergent treatment. Turflon is highly concentrated and a powerful addition to any weed control or grass management program.
Turflon Ester Herbicide is a unique herbicide that offers selective annual, perennial, and broadleaf weed control in turf.
Tools Needed
This product can be applied using various methods, including a pump sprayer, a hose-end sprayer, a backpack sprayer, or a spray rig. We suggest using a 1-gallon pump sprayer for spot treatment around your home or a hose-end sprayer for broadcast spraying over lawns or ornamental gardens.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Turflon Ester Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). General weed control will use 1/4 to 1/3 fl. oz. of Turflon Ester Herbicide in 2 gallons of water per 1,000 square feet. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Fill your sprayer halfway with water. Measure out the required amount of product according to the label, and add it to your sprayer. Fill the remaining amount of water, screw on the lid, and thoroughly agitate your sprayer to mix the product well. The mix will need to be agitated periodically during application to maintain proper emulsion.
- Step 3: Apply the product over the desired areas. Make sure to prevent any spray from drifting away from the desired areas, as the product could harm other plants. Some plants may require reapplication in 4 to 6 weeks. Refer to the label for proper reapplication rates for your targeted plants.
Where to Use
Turflon Ester can be used on weeds in ornamental turf.
Do not apply this product directly to, or otherwise permit it to come into direct contact with cotton, grapes, peanuts, soybeans, tobacco, vegetable crops, flowers, citrus, fruit or orchard trees, shrubs or other desirable broadleaf plants.
Do not use on other turfgrass species such as bahiagrass, bentgrass, Bermudagrass, centipedegrass, St. Augustinegrass, or zoysiagrass unless turfgrass injury can be tolerated.
When to Use
You can apply during warm times, from early spring through fall, when the weeds have emerged or are established. Only emerged weeds present at the time of application will be affected so that reapplication may be necessary after a few weeks.
Safety Information
Turflon Ester Herbicide is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated areas until the sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Turflon Ester is highly concentrated, so accuracy when measuring and mixing is crucial, as inaccurate measurements can lead to varying results. Turflon is an emulsifiable concentrate, so it will need to be agitated regularly when it is mixed to keep a proper emulsion. Turflon should not be applied over certain grasses, as it will kill them as well as the weeds. Refer to the label for a list of affected grasses and weeds.
