True Blue Lake and Pond Dye
True Blue Lake and Pond Dye is a safe, water-soluble colorant that enhances water’s natural blue color while reducing sunlight to help control algae and improve pond health.
04/24/26
True Blue Lake and Pond Dye, manufactured by Precision Laboratories, is a nontoxic way to add brilliant color, enhance water clarity, and help control algae and weeds naturally in lakes, ponds, fisheries, and ornamental bodies of water.
When applied, it adds a vibrant royal blue tint to the water while also reducing UV penetration, helping inhibit algae and aquatic weed growth. By reducing sunlight penetration, True Blue Lake and Pond Dye limits photosynthesis, helping slow the bloom of algae and other aquatic weeds.
True Blue Lake and Pond Dye is a natural and super clarity pond dye that delivers a rich, sky-blue hue that mimics natural waters while keeping clarity high, making it appear professional in ornamental and functional water environments. Formulated to be harmless, it’s safe for fish, birds, turfgrass, irrigation, swimming, and other recreational uses once fully dispersed.
Tools Needed
It can be applied directly from the container, a slow-moving boat, or a hand-held “Hudson-type” pressure sprayer.
How to Use
- Step 1: Measure the size and volume of the body of water to determine how much Vision Pond Dye you will need to mix. To do this, you will need to measure the pond area's length x width. The volume is determined by calculating the surface area x average depth. To get the average depth of your pond, you will need to take 3 depth measurements: one at the shallow end, one at the middle, and one at the deep end. Add all the different depth measurements and divide by the number of measurements taken to get the depth. Apply one quart of True Blue Lake and Pond Dye per acre-foot of water.
- Step 2: Pour True Blue directly into the water preferably in multiple locations around the water body for faster dispersion. Allow it to circulate naturally with wind, aerators, fountains, or water movement.
- Step 3: Once dye has been applied and dispersed, color intensity can be increased by adding additional True Blue Lake and Pond Dye, if desired.
Where to Use
True Blue Lake and Pond Dye can be used for ponds, lakes, fisheries, and ornamental bodies of water.
When to Use
Apply early in the season and throughout as the water warms up to prevent early algae bursts and enhance visual appeal.
