TetraSan 5 WDG Miticide Ovicide

TetraSan 5 WDG Miticide Ovicide, manufactured by Nufarm, is a unique, water-dispersable granule insecticide that controls spider mites at all life stages with up to five weeks of residual activity, using translaminar action to reach pests on the underside of leaves without harming most beneficial insects.

Unlike surface-only sprays, this product penetrates the leaf tissue and moves internally to protect even the underside of leaves where spider mites often hide. This is a big advantage because it reduces the need for perfect under-leaf coverage, which can be tough to achieve. It goes further by acting as a miticide and ovicide, which means it stops eggs, nymphs, and adults from developing and causing damage.

TetraSan 5 WDG Miticide Ovicide is an easy-to-apply insecticide that provides greenhouse, landscape, and nursery owners a peace of mind against spider mites, including their eggs and nymph stages. By sparing beneficial insects, it helps maintain natural balance and supports healthier growing systems.

Tools Needed

You will need a compressed air sprayer, hydraulic sprayer, or a ground boom sprayer. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much TetraSan 5 WDG Miticide Ovicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For ornamental plants, apply 16 to 32 oz. of TetraSan 5 WDG Miticide Ovicide per 100 gallons of water per acre. For Christmas trees, mix 28 to 40 oz. of product per 10 gallons of water per acre. To treat indoor grown tomatoes, use 16 to 40 oz. of product per 100 gallons of water per acre. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until the solution is well-mixed. Do not break open packets. Allow them to dissolve in water. Do not add any liquid fertilizers, micronutrients or adjuvants to the spray solution until after the water soluble packets and their contents have completely dissolved.
• Step 3: Even though TetraSan offers translaminar movement, strive for uniform coverage across the plant canopy. For dense foliage, make sure the spray penetrates deep into the plant. Spray contacting the upper surface of leaves will absorb into the leaves and locally translocate within the leaf. Make a second application if necessary, but no sooner than 14 days after the first application.

Where to Use

TetraSan 5 WDG Miticide Ovicide can be used indoor (greenhouses, lathhouses, shadehouses and interiorscapes) and outdoor ornamentals, including flowering and foliage crops, ground covers, shrubs and ornamental trees, non-bearing fruit and nut trees, Christmas trees and indoor tomato production (greenhouses, lathhouses and shadehouses).

When to Use

Apply when pests are active.

Do not apply within one day of harvest

TetraSan 5 WDG Miticide Ovicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Do not allow people or pets enter the treated area until the spray has dried.

Special Considerations

Do not use with an adjuvant or surfactant for tomatoes.
