Tekko 0.2G Granular Mosquito Larvicide
Tekko 0.2G Granular Mosquito Larvicide
Tekko 0.2G Granular Mosquito Larvicide is manufactured by Control Solutions Inc. and is a granular larvicide that contains Novaluron, an insect growth regulator that will disrupt the development cycle of target pests, like mosquito larvae.
After simply applying the Tekko granules to a target area where mosquito larvae are actively developing, the granules are eaten and the molting process is interrupted, breaking the mosquito life cycle. When combined with an adulticide, Tekko 0.2G contributes to the eradication of a mosquito infestation.
Tekko 0.2G is meant to be applied to bodies of water or standing water where mosquito larvae may be developing, such as tree wells, tires, downspout puddles, rain barrels, birdbaths, unused swimming pools, and more.
Tools Needed
To use Tekko 0.2G, you will need a gloves (if you choose to apply by hand), or a hand/drop spreader in smaller areas, or by standard ground or aerial dispersing methods for larger areas to broadcast the product.
How to Use
- Step 1: To figure out how much Tekko 0.2G you need, you will need to calculate the size of the treatment area. To do this, measure and multiply the length and width to get the total square footage to be treated (length x width = square footage). Water volume is also a factor in determining the rate to apply. For every 2.6 gallons of water, the application rate in ounces is 0.04 (low rate) or 0.21 (high rate) ounces. For application to shallow surface pools (up to 6 inches of depth) the rate is 26.5 to 53 oz. per 100 sq. ft. of surface area.
- Step 2: Load the granules into a spreader at the best rate for your treatment area and then apply uniformly over the water surface. You could also apply by hand wearing protective gloves where only a small quantity is needed like flowering pots, bird baths and small containers.
- Step 3: Reapply the Tekko 0.2G granules as needed every 60 days for continued control using the low rate or every 90 days if using the high rate.
Where to Use
Tekko 0.2G must be applied to temporary or permanent sites which do not drain DIRECTLY into natural water. This includes catch basins, uncultivated agricultural and non-agricultural non-food areas, dredging soil sites, drainage areas, ditches, waste water treatment facilities, dairy or poultry lagoons, other animal waste lagoons, livestock runoff lagoons, sewage effluent, retention ponds, harvested timber stacks, swales, storm water drainage areas, sewers, tree holes, bird baths, landfills, rain barrels, flooded roof tops, abandoned swimming pools, gutters, junk yards, abandoned vehicles, water-holding receptacles, and other natural and manmade depressions.
When to Use
Use Tekko 0.2G at the beginning of the mosquito season as it only works against mosquito larvae. Continue treatments up to the last brood of the season. The active ingredient in Tekko 0.2G will continue to be released and will provide up to 90 days of control. Application can be made to areas prior to flooding and still provide control.
Safety Information
Tekko 0.2G Granules is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter treated areas until the spray has dried.
Special Considerations
Tekko 0.2G provides up to 90 days of control, at the highest rate, in sites with limited turn-over of water. The period of control may be limited in areas of high turnover or high organic matter content and retreatment may be necessary.

Keith's Pro Tips | "Tekko 0.2G can be applied to deeper pools as well. Just make sure to use the higher rate for deeper pools and high organic matter, which the label lists." |
Product Drawbacks | Is not effective against adult mosquitoes. For total mosquito control, combine Tekko 0.2G treatments with a mosquito adulticide. |
Target Pests | Mosquito larvae and/or pupae in aquatic environments. |
