Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice), manufactured by Control Solutions, is a powerful granule insecticide used by Licensed Pest Control professionals to control various insects like fire ants or fleas for up to 1 year.

Specially formulated with two modes of action GABA inhibitor and Sodium Channel Blocker, giving professionals a fast and long-term control in a single application. It contains the active ingredient 0.0143% Fipronil, which works by either contact or ingestion to block the pests GABA-gated chloride channels in central nervous system leading to a fast, death. 

Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice) is a versatile product that needs to be applied only once at any point of the year, despite weather conditions.

Tools Needed

To use Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice), you will need either a push spreader or hand-held spreader to evenly broadcast the granules on the lawn or landscape.

How to Use

Step 1: Determine how much Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice) to use by calculating the square footage of the treatment area. To do this, measure the length and width of the application site in feet then multiply together to get the total square footage (length X width = square footage). For acre, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acre). Apply Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice) at a rate of 87 pounds per acre or 2 pounds of product per 1,000 square feet. 
Step 2:  Load the appropriate amount of Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice) into your spreader making sure it has been calibrated to the proper spreader setting based on your brand of spreader (see the label for details).
Step 3: Push the spreader at a steady pace to ensure the granules are evenly spread across the lawn.  Do two pass-throughs perpendicular to one another so you get a more uniform spread. Water the areas immediately after application.

Where to Use

Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice) can be used on turfgrass areas including golf courses, residential and commercial lawns, cemeteries, recreational areas including parks and campsites, around schools and sports fields, sodfarms, and landscape beds.

It may also be applied to outdoor nursery sites before placement of the containerized plants into the treatment area. 

Do not apply to pastures, grazing lands, field grown nursery stock, areas where plants grown for food will be placed, and to bare ground or other impervious surfaces such as paved or concrete roads, sidewalks, driveways, or walkways. 

When to Use

Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice) can be applied any time of the year but works best when an application is timed in the early spring to treat for fire ant mound. Though it can be applied at any time during the year, in USDA/APHIS Fire Ant Quarantine areas for approved states listed on the label, the approved timings are from April through September. Apply on days when wind speeds are low to minimize drift.

Safety Information

Taurus G Fipronil Granules (TopChoice) is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when making applications.

Keep people and pets out of treated areas until 24 hours have passed after application.
