Surmise SpeedPro XT Herbicide, manufactured by Prime Source, is an excellent non-selective post-emergent weed killer that packs a powerful triple combo - fast-acting glufosinate, burn-down fatty acid, and residual imazethapyr for truly unstoppable grassy and broadleaf weed management.

Pelargonic acid is a naturally occurring fatty acid found in plants and animals. It works by quickly destroying the plant’s cell membranes, causing rapid wilting and browning often within hours. While pelargonic acid handles the top burn, glufosinate moves into the plant to kill it from the inside out, including roots and rhizomes. That’s a big advantage over glyphosate-alternatives that only provide contact kill. Imazethapyr provides residual control for several months, suppressing many broadleaf weeds, annual and perennial grasses, and sedges.

Surmise SpeedPro XT Herbicide is an effective total vegetation killer that provides systemic and contact kill of troublesome broadleaf and grassy weeds in various non-crop areas. This non-selective herbicide is a powerful, fast-acting herbicide that’s built for today’s weed challenges and tomorrow’s resistance concerns.

Tools Needed

You will need a handheld pump sprayer, backpack sprayer, or spray rig.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Determine how much Surmise SpeedPro XT Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For general spot treatments and weeds less than 6 inches in height, mix 3.2 fl. oz. of Surmise SpeedPro XT Herbicide per 1 gallon of water. To perform a spot treatment on weeds greater than 6 inches in height, apply 6.4 fl. oz. of product per 1 gallon of water. Do not make more than 3 spot applications (same spot no greater than 1000 sq. ft.) per year. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
  • Step 2: Fill the sprayer with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining half of the water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed.
  • Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of weeds until wet, but not to the point of runoff. Avoid drift and contact with desirable foliage as they will injured and killed off. If needed, a second application can be made when 14 days have passed from the previous treatment.
