Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control
Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control is a selective post-emergent herbicide that targets hard-to-kill sedge and broadleaf weeds, delivering fast, reliable control without harming established turf and ornamentals.
04/26/26
Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control, manufactured by Southern Ag, is a powerful, selective herbicide for turf and ornamentals, providing fast, long-lasting sedge and broadleaf weed control while maintaining healthy turf and improving overall lawn appearance.
Sedges don’t just grow above ground they spread through underground stems and tubers. That’s why controlling them with superficial sprays often fails. Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control’s systemic activity is absorbed and transported throughout the plant, killing the entire weed and sedge, reducing regrowth from roots, and providing longer-lasting control than surface-only sprays.
Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control is an essential post-emergent herbicide concentrate for anyone struggling with various sedges and broadleaf weeds in warm-seasoned turf, cool-seasoned turf, and ornamentals. Once weeds and sedges are treated, they rarely regrow, giving property owners a thicker, more uniform yard without patchy weeds.
Tools Needed
A handheld pump sprayer, knapsack sprayer, backpack sprayer, or hose-end sprayer can be used.
How to Use

- Step 1: Determine how much Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For general broadleaf and sedge control, apply 0.75 fl. oz. of Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control per 1 gallon of water per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Start by filling the spray tank halfway with clean water and begin agitating. Add the recommended amount of product while maintaining constant agitation, then fill the tank the rest of the way with water. Continue stirring throughout the spraying process to ensure an even mixture.
- Step 3: Spray the top and bottom of the weed leaves until wet, but not to the point of runoff. A second application may be made 7 to 10 days later when new growth appears, if control was not obtained with the first application. Rainfall or sprinkler irrigation within 8 hours after application may reduce control over weeds.
Where to Use
Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control can be used in established turfgrass and ornamentals.
When to Use
For best results, apply early when weeds are small on days when rainfall is not expected to occur within the next 8 hours after treatment.
Do not cultivate or mow within five days before or after application.
Safety Information
Southern Ag Broadloom Sedge Control is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product.
Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until sprays have dried.
Special Considerations
Broadloom Sedge Control does not control grasses. Broadloom Sedge Control is effective mainly through contact action; thorough coverage of weeds is critical for control.
All labeled plants are tolerant to Broadloom Sedge Control. Leaf speckling or bronzing may occur, but plants generally outgrow this condition within 10 days. New growth will be normal and plant vigor will not be reduced.

| Signal Word | CAUTION |
| Keith's Pro Tip | "Mowing regularly at the recommended height for your grass type helps keep your lawn healthy and dense, which naturally prevents weeds from establishing. Cutting too short can stress the grass, weaken roots, and allow sunlight to reach weed seeds, encouraging growth, while mowing too high can reduce turf density and create spaces where weeds can take hold. Consistent mowing at the proper height strengthens grass, shades the soil, and improves overall lawn resilience against weeds." |
