Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide
Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide is a powerful, pre-emergent granule that prevents more than 120 broadleaf and grassy weeds in over 600 ornamentals for up to 8 months.
11/04/25
Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide, manufactored by DOW/CORTEVA, is a speciality pre-emergent herbicide that delivers long-lasting control over a broad-spectrum of broadleaf and grassy weed species.
It contains two powerful active ingredients: it inhibits cell wall synthesis in susceptible broadleaf weed seedlings and stops root development in germinating weed seeds. Few herbicides offer this broad spectrum of coverage in a single product, making Snapshot DG a preferred option for complex landscape weed problems.
Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide is a professional pre-emergent herbicide that saves time and labor for commercial and agricultural ornamentals from weed pressure for months at a time.
Tools Needed
Apply with a drop spreader, rotary spreader, push spreader, or handheld spreader.
How to Use
- Step 1: Determine how much Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiplying them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). For a general application, apply 2.30 lbs. of Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide per 1,000 sq. ft. Refer to the product label instructions for specific application rates and restrictions.
- Step 2: Adjust the spreader to the proper ratios and load with the proper amount of granules.
- Step 3: Spread the granules evenly across the treated area. After application, irrigate the granules with 0.5 inches of water.
Where to Use
Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide can be used for landscape ornamentals, Christmas trees plantations, container grown ornamentals, field grown ornamentals, groundcovers/perennials, non-bearing vineyards, and non-cropland.
When to Use
Apply before weeds are present. If you do not plan to irrigate the area, then be sure to make applications when rainfall is expected to occur within the next 3 days of application.
Safety Information
Snapshot DG Speciality Herbicide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling and applying this product.
Keep people and pets out of the treated area for 24 hours after application.
Special Considerations
Length of weed control will vary with the rate of Snapshot DG applied, weed population, potting media or soil conditions, temperature, watering regime, and other factors.

| Keith's Pro Tips | "Users who wish to use Snapshot DG on plant species not recommended on this label may determine the suitability for use by treating a small number of such plants at a recommended rate. Prior to treatment of larger areas, the treated plants should be observed for any sign of herbicidal injury for during 30 to 60 days of normal growing conditions to determine if the treatment is safe to the target plant species." |
| Product Drawbacks | Where loss of stand has occurred in field grown ornamentals, use untreated soil as fill around roots when replacing plants or injury may occur. |
