Scimitar GC Insecticide, manufactured by Syngenta, is a unique microencapsulated insecticide that provides fast, broad-spectrum pest control over 20 turf and ornamental insects, reducing the need for multiple products. 

This product contains lambda-cyhalothrin, a potent synthetic pyrethroid, in a unique microencapsulated formulation. The encapsulation enhances residual activity while minimizing the risk of phytotoxicity. This technology allows the insecticide to remain effective over time, offering extended control even after irrigation or rainfall.

Tools Needed

A backpack sprayer, handheld pump sprayer, or spray rig will be needed. 

How to Use

• Step 1: Determine how much Scimitar GC Insecticide to use by measuring the square footage of the treatment area. Find the square footage by measuring the treatment area's length and width in feet, then multiply them together (length X width = square footage). For acreage, take the square footage and divide it by one acre (square footage / 43,560 sq. ft. = acres). To control pests in turf, use 3.4 to 7 mL of Scimitar GC Insecticide per 2 gallons of water per 1,000 sq. ft. For ornamentals, apply 3 to 5 fl. oz. of product per 100 gallons of water. Refer to the product label for specific application rates and restrictions. 
• Step 2: Fill the sprayer tank with half the amount of water, add the proper amount of product, and then pour in the remaining amount of water. Close the tank lid and shake until well-mixed. 
• Step 3: Thoroughly cover the plant with Scimitar GC spray, including trunks, stems, twigs, and foliage. Be sure to also spray the top and bottom of the leaves. Lightly irrigate after application with up to 1/2 inch of water to move the Scimitar GC into the thatch layer. Apply at 7-day intervals if treatment is necessary.

Where to Use

Scimitar GC Insecticide can be used on Golf Course and Athletic Field Turf; Sod Farms; Ornamentals Grown in Commercial Greenhouses, Shadehouses and Nurseries; and on Ornamentals and Lawns in Landscaped Areas Around Residential, Institutional, Public, Commercial and Industrial Buildings, Parks, Recreational Areas, Golf Courses and Athletic Fields.

When to Use

For best results, apply in early morning or late evening hours when you start to notice significant plant damage. 

Avoid applications if rainfall is expected to occur within the next 24 hours after application. 

Safety Information

Scimitar GC Insecticide is safe for people and pets when applied according to the product label instructions. Always wear the proper personal protective equipment (PPE) when mixing and applying this product. 

Keep people and pets out of the treated area for at least 24 hours after application. 

Special Considerations

When applying to hard-to-wet foliage, such as holly, pine, or ivy, the addition of a spreader-sticker may enhance knockdown and residual activity.
