Quinclorac 75 DF Herbicide (Crabgrass Killer)

Quinclorac is the #1 Crabgrass Killer!

Crabgrass is a common headache on the lawns of most homeowners during the Summertime and they can be quite stubborn in going away despite our best efforts. Pulling them or mowing them usually produces minimal results if any, and it’s just not worth the hard labor especially in the dead heat of summer when the sun is beating down heavily. Don’t drench yourself in sweat trying to fight those invaders that are ruining your lawn when you can take them out with a tremendously effective selective herbicide we carry here at Solutions Pest & Lawn, Quinclorac.

Why Is Quinclorac The Ultimate Crabgrass Killer?

Before we get into the benefits of Quinclorac, let’s give you a quick breakdown of the culprit we are trying to get rid of: Crabgrass. Crabgrass is an annual grassy weed and the seeds are in your soil already. When soil temperatures hit 60 degrees, the crabgrass seeds will begin to germinate and grow, typically around the early summer months of May or June.

You’ll see those weeds in full bloom in July, and a whole lot more of it if you have a thinner lawn. As crabgrass grows, it also starts to sprout seeds and once they mature, those seeds drop into the lawn and now you have more crabgrass seeds in the lawn, starting a cycle where they creep up every year.

We here at Solutions Stores highly recommend Quinclorac and tout it to our customers as the ultimate crabgrass killer. Quinclorac (produced by Quali-Pro) is a selective post-emergent herbicide, meaning it targets specific weeds and largely brings no harmful effects to desirable grass which may surround the offending weed when applied. Aside from targeting crabgrass primarily, Quinclorac can also eliminate weeds such as dandelion and clover which may come up in areas where grass is stressed. Here are a few other benefits which make Quinclorac a solid option for treating controlling crabgrass:

  • Quinclorac has the ability to boost broadleaf activity when tank-mixed with other broadleaf-specific herbicides, especially phenoxies like 2,4-D and MCPP.

  • Quinclorac can provide excellent control of some broadleaves, like white clover and dandelion, on its own.

  • When crabgrass is small (one-to-three leaf – one tiller) or when it is gorilla-sized (four tillers and over), quinclorac will provide excellent control of crabgrass and is very safe when applied to new cool-season turf seedings.

Using Quinclorac: Step By Step Solutions Guide

Solutions carries Quinclorac 75 DF Crabgrass Killer produced by Quali-Pro. The DF stands for Dry Flowable meaning it is a dry product that should be mixed with water.  Conveniently, the product comes with a measuring device so you can get an accurate measurement of the product before mixing.

1. Measure out the amount you need depending on the size of the land you are going to be treating. The recommended amount of product is .73 oz per gallon of water per 1000 sq ft.

2. Mix up the application. We recommend using a pump sprayer as they are good for selective herbicides and spot treatments.

3. Spray along the areas where you have crabgrass and dandelion or other offending weeds.

4. When applying quinclorac, spray enough to moisten the leaf surface. After about an hour it’s rainfast meaning it will remain on the plant even if it were to rain rather than washing off.

5. About 2 to 7 days later, it is recommend to irrigate the treated plant area so it filters down into the soil to be picked up by the broad leaf plants that you are trying to get rid of. And you’re finished!

After applying Quinclorac according to these steps, give it about a week and check things out. You will notice immediate that the areas of crabgrass and weeds that you treated are dying and turning brown. Be sure to check the product label to see the level of tolerance your desired grass can take as some vegetation is more tolerant of Quinclorac than others.
