Pronone Power Pellets, manufactured by Proserve, is a nonselective pelleted herbicide that comes ready to go for control of undesirable woody plants, trees, and brush with minimum damage to desired foliage.

With its powerful and compressed active ingredient of Hexazinone 75.0%, it will prevent targeted plants from photosynthesis. Once applied to the unwanted plant it will not be able produce oxygen or synthesize food causing the foliage to shrivel and die.

Pronone Power Pellets requires moisture for activation, but can survive extended periods of no rainfall or irrigation. Once activated this product will remain in the soil and fight against targeted plants before they emerge providing very little regrowth in the future.

Tools Needed

Pronone Power Pellets comes ready to use, but you can use a hand spreader or apply directly by hand. Make sure to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves when handling this product by hand. You will also need a water hose to water areas once treated.

How to Use

  • Step 1: Make sure plants with regrowth are at least a year old prior to application of Pronone Power Pellets or in the case when trees, such as cedar, have turned completely brown. Determine how much Pronone Power Pellets to use by examining the foliage to be treated. For single stem plants or trunks such as oak, elm, and cedar apply 1 to 2 pellets per inch of stem diameter. For multi-stemmed plants that are 2 ft. to 3 ft. tall, apply 1 to 2 pellets at the base of the plant. When more than one pellet is needed distribute the pellets evenly around the single or multi stem plant approximately halfway between the stem and the canopy edge. For fence line tree and brush control in pastures and rangeland fences apply 1 pellet in the fence line for every 3 ft. of fence length. Do not apply more than 600 pellets per acre per season. Refer to the label for specific foliage rates.
  • Step 2: To prevent injury or loss of desirable tree or brushes, measure the distance from the base (trunk) to the dripline of the desirable plant. Multiply this distance by three and do not apply Pronone Power Pellets within this distance. Do not apply this product near the roots of desired foliage otherwise it may result in damage or loss of plant.
  • Step 3: For a hand spreader pour the appropriate amount of Pronone Power Pellets into the spreader and pull the trigger and hold it in place as your apply pellets near the targeted plant roots. You will want to apply your measured Pronone Power Pellets evenly around the brush, trees, and shrubs. For hand applications, take the cap and slowly pour on the base of the plant until evenly covered.
  • Step 4: Apply Pronone Power Pellets in a grid pattern for hand and spreader applications for even application and area control. Water between 1/4 to 1/2 within two weeks after first application. Do not mow or cut treated brush or trees until 12 months after application.

Where to Use

Use Pronone Power Pellets on rangelands, pastures, rangelands and pasture fence lines, reforestation areas, forestry site preparation, preharvest control of hardwoods, and noncropland areas such as utility, highway, pipeline and railroad rights-of-way, petroleum tank farms, lumberyards, storage areas, industrial plant sites, the berm of drainage ditches (do not apply to the inside of ditch banks or to inside of banks along waterways) and other similar areas

Do not use on lawns, desired foliage, walks, driveways, tennis courts or similar areas.

When to Use

Apply Pronone Power Pellets prior or during period of active growth of brush species. Typically, this will be in early spring to early summer. For effective brush control and prevention of damage by drift apply on warm, calm days with no immediate forecast of rain or high volume wind within 24 hours.

Safety Information

Pronone Power Pellets is safe to use around children and pets when applied according to the product label. Always wear the appropriate personal protective equipment when applying this product.

Keep children, pets, and other individuals from entering the treatment area until 48 hours have passed.

Special Consideration

Wait 60 days after treatment before allowing domestic animals to graze from the treated areas.

Use on 1 year old or 4 year old or older seedlings is acceptable; however, injury may result from use on 2 and 3 year old seedling where root growth is extensive but hardiness is lacking. Do not apply Pronone Power Pellets closer than 36 inches to seedlings or directly upslope from seedlings.

For best area control, keep Pronone Power Pellets away from fertilizers, insecticides, fungicides and seeds.
